As a former rat owner and breeder, I must agree that rats are a superior variety of small furry animal. They're smart as the dickens and if you raise them from infancy they bond to you like nobody's business. Plus they have very human-looking hands so that when they hold onto a piece of food and turn it in their hands while they munch, it's adorable! kiss

All of mine died in a Texas heat wave long ago, though, so I am currently bereft of rodents. sad

No, no -- 'twas the ray(s) of sunshine that killed the beasts. My advice to mammal-owners: Keep the AC on even when you leave the apartment for the afternoon! cry

Searching for the cage of doom, and trying to bring back the pellets, and free the children.

You don't know anything about it, you are not ophelia. Indiana the Hedgehog would not even be friends with you, Arlon! Ophelia has always said this.

Indiana the Hedgehog used to be a muslim and is currently an agnostic and he is very offended by your intolerant and ignorant views towards both of those! If you apologize to Indiana the Hedgehog and accept him for who he is, I am sure he will forgive you. By all accounts, although Indiana the Hedgehog can sometimes be a troublemaker and a grump, he is usually a creature that is very reasonable.

Well, since it's light out here, he's sleeping. tongue I will try to get more and different photographs of him. That may take some digging though, and possibly Nazis, and snakes, so I ask for your patience.

jp-30: I refuse to respond to your allegation that I am actually an hedgehog, nefariously in disguise.

Although that would explain why there are no pictures of me in the Post-A-Pic thread.

Then again, so would the possibility that I am ugly.

Or a man. Or both.

-RebelScum-: Hmm . . . I'd say that the pros of hedgehog ownership are mostly the ones I've mentioned. They're cute, they lack the downsides of more conventional pets like dogs, cats, and ferrets, almost no one is allergic to them, apartment owners don't make you pay extra to have them, they're really funny to watch, and they do semi-useful things like eat bugs. They also occasionally start conversations on the JCC. Oh--and they're highly unlikely to die in the heat. Their natural habitat includes the desert-scrub bits of Northern Africa, which is like the Sahara, only a bit to the right.

The negatives include the facts that they can be expensive--$150 to $250 for just a li'l random hedgehog isn't uncommon. Many pet store hedgehogs are overbred and unhealthy, and come to grief early. sad Going to registered breeders can up the price and the hassle factor, but it also ups the chances of your getting a healthy little friend for many years. They're also illegal in a small number of U.S. states--largely in the Southwest. Arizona and New Mexico have the kind of climate they could live in very happily, and people are worried that pets would escape and become menaces. Like alligators in the sewers, only spinier, and not really fond of sewers.

Sometimes they can grow to be 14 blocks long and follow you around, shouting your name. worried

Well, that's a very straightforward response. Assuming every "n" means "no," then his use of a tetracontanegative means that there are twenty serial cancellations of the "no" to arrive at the answer "Yes." Further, the long string of 7s at the end of his post also affirms his intentions, since 7 is a well known number for good luck among Neo-Pilgrims.

So then, ophelia welcome to the assembly.
