The diner used for the exterior shots of Monk's (Tom's) might be a bit out-of-the-way if they're sticking to midtown and downtown. [It's at 112th and Broadway, a few blocks from where I used to work.] The Soup Man has several places in midtown, though.

The real soup place shut down a few years back.
He has this dumb chain restaurant now.
It's not the same.

I went to eat at Tom's a few years ago when I was in New York visiting colleges.
So, I get in around 6 and I'd like to drop my stuff off before going out. So accounting for bus delays and depending on how long it takes to get from the bus station to Beth's to Beer Boot Place, we'll be meeting there around... 7:30? 8? ish.
I'll leave official timing up to Beth.

Are you dropping your stuff off and then going to the bar?
I'm confused?

Dani, if you don't have that much stuff, it might be easier to go straight to the beer boot place. It's on the east side and I'm on the west...
Also, Tom's is hugely overrated. Overpriced, not terribly good food, looks nothing like the Seinfeld restaurant on the inside, and full of annoying rich Ivy kids. I went there maybe twice in the six years school kept me in the area.
Forbidden Planet is awesome. Also, the Strand is right there. *drools*

Tom's isn't that bad, and you can do at worse as far as coffee shops go.
A walk around Midtown on the west side would give you a good look at some recent skyscrapers by Foster and Piano as well as the new uber-green Bank of America tower.

Okay, we are meeting at Heidelberg at SEVEN. That is the official plan.
Where we go from there depends on a number of factors.

Edit: Yeah, see above. 86th and 2nd. 4/5/6 train and walk, or M86 bus. I figure we may as well head back west after that because there isn't much else interesting in the immediate vicinity on the east side, IMO, but it's up to everybody there.
(No, I'm not biased.)
(WEST SIDE FOR LIFE, YO!!!)

Hmm, I wonder what you posted. And for the record: East Side > West Side.

It just occurred to me as I posted that I hadn't in fact been invited to join the group.
