Actually, in the summers the 77th Street station was such a disaster that I used to walk to work (49th and Park) more often than not.
And what are you doing going out at night taking mass transit? Taxi or bust!

Meh, I'm poor and I'm sick of taxis stealing my money. I use 'em occasionally if I'm in a rush to get home, but otherwise, I'm happy enough either walking or taking a train. Walking around the city after dark is very soothing. It's one of my favorite things about living here - still enough fun and interesting things to see while you walk even when it's late.
Also, I just remembered the name of a middle eastern restaurant I haven't been to in a long while but used to like - Olive Tree Cafe by Washington Square Park. The tables are chalkboards that you get to draw on while you wait for your food. Jay says it sounds gross, so it must be awesome!

There are a few places in the city famous for their cheesecake. I went with Junior's because someone once told me I couldn't call myself a New Yorker until I'd had some there. [The main place is in Brooklyn, but they're also in Grand Central and Times Square.]

HOWEVER!
I can also recommend the Palm, which may be around near where we are at some point and we may be able to get a slice at the bar rather than needing to order a humongous steak.
