Yeah, I wish it were more flexible, but the first three weeks of October is the only time I could afford and that I could comfortably take off work (I temp so it'll be a lean time of the year for looking for contracts/jobs) without stuffing up my chances of getting home to no job 
I'm sorry it doesn't really fit for everyone else, but I hope no one feels pressured to go. It's a bonus to meet anyone on my trip

Ditto what the mouse said - I can get the time off (I'll be calling in some favors) but I need to know where and the exact dates so I can plan. Also, I CAN bring at least one more person with me*, possibly two, but I need to be able to plan.
*this is deeply discounted, stand by travel, paying as little as 25% of the published fare, and I have enough seniority to make sure everyone gets to where we're going at a reasonable time, but we need to KNOW.
