FWIW - I'm looking at places in Paddington, right near the train station.

I've reserved my room to arrive on the 2nd of October - will probably stay until at least monday...

Oooh, looks nice!
I'm going to be staying in Kings Cross. I was there most of the time when I was in London in March and I know my way around from there. (ie: If I go anywhere else, I'll be lost and useless to everyone  )

I think the Danish CR stayed there after CE, or at the very least near it - but the building definitely looks familiar and I think it was that area

I swear I was about to say Paddington station didn't exist because I couldn't find it on the tube map But seeing as the circle line is a connector between Kings Cross and Paddington, it shouldn't be longer than 20 minutes away...right?

Yes, the circle line and the Hammersmith/City line will do it (AKA, the yellow and the pink lines) - 15-20 minutes tops.

Circle to/from Paddington and Kings Cross/St. Pancras is faster than H&P from my limited experience.
