Nu-metal? Like Korn?
Honestly to me, I pretty much classify anything from KoRn to Dimmu Borgir to Symphony X to Stabbing Westward to Manson metal. Just metal. I don't like the fancy crap, although it does annoy me every now and then when there's a major miscategorizing.
By the way, if I get a chance I will post some awesome concert photos.

I know I already said this over at the Trop, but I've always considered SOAD to be nu-metal and therefore felt a little embarrassed for liking them.

That's why I don't list them as Nu-Metal. The genre makes no sense half the bands don't even do what is supposed to be or make the metal or Nu-Metal.
Symphony X as just metal?  They are one of the great Power/Prog metal bands out there. With out them there would really be no Nightwish, Epica, or After Forever. They were doing what what those bands are doing know.

SOAD could be considered Nu-metal, but that doesn't mean they dont kick ass.
Hell, Slipknot is considered nu-metal, but I still  them

For the record, I hate Nightwish and Epica with a passion. I saw Epica perform a couple of months ago with Symphony X, they were absolutely atrocious. Symphony X was amazing though.
I just mean, I hate the labeling system of specifics of metal. Yeah I know it's all true, but nu metal or metal, or metal whatnot, and the industrial music that is half metal half industrial (Stabbing W.), it's all just |"metal" to me. Makes life a lot easier.

You see that's kind of my problem. SOAD is in a total different genre when it comes to Slipknot. I my not be a fan of SOAD, Tool, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Kittie. I mean really the bst I can place them in metal would be Alternative Metal.
I just can't for the life of me put a band like Disturbed in the same genre as Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, or Slipknot. I just can't it's just seem so wrong to me.

The only problem there is that you then get Deathcore band thrown into metal and Deathcore has very little to do with Heavy Metal.
Also it's makes it much more easy when people ask me about different metal bands. I mean I get people thinking that all metal bands just scream and yell. I end up having to exaplin to them that there are different parts of metal some such as Death Metal and Black Metal that' have the grunts, and screams. Where as with Power Metal cleaning singing.
Or the wrost I get is they all sound the same. Which makes no sense because last I check Hammerfall sounds nothing like Mayhem.(sp) So again it leaves me having to exaplin to people that there different styles of metal. But I only stay with the ones I listed.
I mean I look at it and just saying metal or Heay metal. Well really they all fall under that. But again like I said I don't because it makes it much more easy to tell people about the bands. It also helps when someone asks I'm looking for more bands that sound like oh heck Iced Earth, Epca, To-Mera, and Metallica.
For Iced Earth I would list other Power metal bands. To-Mera wold have other Prog metal bands. Metallica I would give them a list of other Thrash Metal bands and Epica it would be other Symphoinc metal bands.
I mean could you image someone asking for more bands that sound like Meatllica and you give them Darkthrone.  They won't know what to think.
I mean really if someone says they want more bands that sound like Cannibal Corpse would you really throw Dragonforce yet them? I think not you would be throwing other Death Metal band at them like Nile or Goatwhore or Napalam Death.

Lets all just agree we like diffenrent bands that might now sound alike, but at the heart its all Metal.
One thing that annoys me, is when I say I like slipknot and often there is the kneejerk reaction from others "Slipknot is not metal, why do you listen to them"
Who the hell made you the expert, and what gives you the right to question my taste in music?

SOAD is definitely not Nu Metal. They just happened to rise to fame at the same time the other Nu Metal bands did and ended up getting lumped into the category. But they were doing their thing long before those other bands. But I don't having anything against the genre. I do like Korn and Linkin Park.

I will agree that we like different bands. But they all don't sound a like. There was somethign I read once if I can ever find it I will post it. Any ways the person said that you can tell what Death metal is from Power Metal and you can tell way a band is part of said genre.
The example was something a long the lines of even at it's lightest a Death Metal band will still sound like a Death Metal just by the way the play there music.

Ok and is there a problem with me liking them? I see people do that all the time. Darth Mulacki likes Slipknot. I don't I think there a really bad band and they have way to many members most of which don't do a thing. But if that's what he likes more power to him.
Really I'm here to talk about Metal bands I like not metal bands I don't like. So I really don't get why you even bothered to post that.

Yes plenty. I never was a big fan of Symphony X until I saw them live. Same with Amon Amarth.

I like Paradise Lost, though it took a while to grow on me. Haven't managed to find any of the rest of their stuff around though, and I'm not enough into it to buy it from Amazon
