I'd go with dbz style superpowers. Upper level super saiyans are damn near unstoppable.

The problem with magic as holds true for just about any story on the subject is that there is ususally some kind of trade off if you abuse it, which we would all do.

I'll take this, along with effortless control and skill with said power. I wouldn't want to have to strain to keep other's thoughts out. I'd want to be able to turn the telepathy on and off at will and do everything the professor can.
I'd learn all the languages I've studied and more. I'd "persuade" rich companies to give me money. I'd absorb all the necessary knowledge to become a doctor. And there are lots of other mischievous things I'd do with it for my benefit. This power has the most advantages in this world.
As tempting as it would be to have the powers of my Vampire: the Masquerade character, a master Jedi, or a full-fledged HP-verse wizard, they just wouldn't have much practical use unless I were to suddenly start fighting other metahumans.
