IO was eating peanuts and then I saw a policeman. He didn't notice me. I just passed by and got home. The peanuts were alright.

Got pulled over in March by KTA Highway Patrol. Guy clocked me at 77 in a 65 and let me off with a warning. There was much rejoicing.

A cop waved to me. I waved back.

At least a few days a week at work, saying hello and/or talking with the school resource office, during the school year.

Yeah, I've made it a habit to always wave to police officers, or give them the bro nod. This is all just in case one of them pulls me over one day and realizes "Hey, that's the guy that gave me the bro nod...warning for him."

But anyway, the last real encounter I had with a police officer was 2 or 3 years ago when I accidentally turned onto a blocked off section of road where a bad car accident had been. The guy held up his hand and when I started to roll down my window he cocked his hand back as if to reach for his gun (which caused me to hold up both hands above the steering wheel). Then he gave me a obscenities-laced berating for turning onto a blocked-off section of road and told me to turn around.

Yep, that's about it.

Normally they're of the "nod of acknowledgment to each other" variety... but there is one that stands out (partly because it and similar incidents came up in conversation the other day).

Our driveway comes out on a small street right near a major road, and people that get pulled for speeding often pull onto our street. The ones who get pulled stop well past our driveway, but the cops nearly always just decide to block our driveway rather than pull up out of the way, even when there is plenty of room to do so (which is most of the time). Once this was happening as I was coming down the driveway, about to leave... the cop pulls up, blocking our driveway, looks over, stares at me, clearly about to come out of the driveway, THEN gets out of his car which is still blocking the driveway, and walks up to the car he pulled to deal with her.

I ended up waiting in the driveway for several minutes before I got to leave. Seriously, how hard is it to pull up your car 10 feet before you get out?

I was riding around with my cousin when a motorcycle cop stopped us in a gas station parking lot because his inspection sticker was out of date. When he walked by I said "Good afternoon, officer." and he just kind of looked at me with that smug cop look on his face.

A foreign sound, to your ear.
It's alright, ma. I'm only sighing.

Early June I was... well, actually I don't think those people count as law enforcement... and it wasn't much of an encounter... and it's not very recent either... you know, I don't really have anything to contribute. I just looked lost in a central station and I guess my hair is dark enough to be a potential terrorist so ... tongue

It was 200...4 I think, pulled over for going a dastardly 10mph over on my lunch break from work, was let off with a warning.
