When you create a thread, there is a checkbox to receive notification, so that whenever someone posts in the thread you can receive an email letting you know someone posted.
You can also turn this on for other threads that you have not created.
I did this for the Forum Feud so I wouldn't miss needing to answer, and then the foreigners spammed up the thread so my inbox got really really full really really quick.
You can then turn it OFF by going into your options and choosing the Manage Your Active Topic Notifications item. Something you may have never clicked on before.

Change Your User Details (User Profile)
Here you can change your user details. Such as your first name, last name, e-mail, etc. Your details are visible from the user profile page.
