Playgrounds from Hell

Witness the horror HERE
These are pictures of some children's playgrounds in Russia, built during the days of the former Soviet Union. You just gotta feel sorry for the kids who have to play on these.
Although that telephone would make a pretty neat substitute for the Guardian of Forever for kids who want to play Star Trek.

Yeah . . . isn't the purpose of that padding to cushion children's fall if they slip on a piece of equipment? I suppose you could argue that it teaches playground safety with negative reinforcement . . . 
It's a bit amazing that the authorities in the article seem to have the attitude that it's parents' responsibility to keep kids from touching the rubber padding. Which the city put in the playground on purpose. For kids to fall on.

There was this playground at the place I went to watch fireworks this Fourth of July that had little bouncy platforms that kids could totally use to reenact Obi-Wan and Anakin's Mustafar lightsaber duel on.
There was this awesome rocket slide at the elementary school I attended fifth grade at, that looked something like THIS. I remember playing G.I. Joe on it, but now it would seem to call for pretending to be Zephram Cochrane making his first warp flight on it.
Man, I sure come up with the geekiest play scenarios.
