Don't get so excited about a tax refund. It's all your money anyways.
I had to pay about $500 because I cashed savings bonds to buy this computer, which ticks me off, but my parents are going to pay the IRS for me. grrr, I'm 18 years old, why do I need to be paying taxes to a government that can't even fix the potholes on my street?

That's like gettting excited 'cause someone who stole your wallet is giving you a couple of bucks back.

at least i had plenty of medical expenses i was able to deduct. Otherwise, I would have been screwed.

Here in Alabama, those of us who are entitled to a refund from the state might have to wait a while. The state doesn't have the money.

Yep, those of us who don't own a home or invest heavily should count ourselves lucky, at least where taxes are concerned...I may not own the roof over my head, but it only took a short amount of time to get mine done.
...was doing taxes and watching a movie--Steve Martin in "The Jerk"  Laughed so hard, my tax form info may not all be correct

Speaking of "jerk" and "taxes", there's a thread on the official sit that is titled "call anyone a jerk here!".
I got banned for calling someone a jerk.
He was a troll too. Over there he is a mod though.
Admittedly, I shouldn't have called him a jerk.  I'm angry at myself.

Hate the past 100 years of congressional legislation, not the IRS. And you can blame the taxpayer. For every tax law passed there's probably 10 new rulings to go along with it, because people try to use it as a loophole.
And don't be too upset about how large the taxcode is. I'm expected to know all of it if I'm going to pass the Enrolled Agent test this summer (Plus my clients think I should have every number and tax table memorized completely).
As for me, I got back $248 and turned around and paid the state and city $326 combined.
