I guess, considering I majored in history in college, I am a history buff. I should have become a history teacher instead of going to law school.

The problem with history is that it's slightly different in each different country it's taught in. So much of it is lies.

Admiral_Thrawn, I wouldn't say so much of history is a lie. I would agree though that history differs depending on your perspective. What did Obi-Wan say about "a certain point of view?" I think history definately changes based on your point of view. That's one of the things that makes history so interesting. In my opinion it's fascinating how different people and societies view the same historical events. On the same hand, that's an indication on how those events affected those different people.

Well, I don't think I would use the term, "lies."
History is written by the victors, by those in power, by those who had/have the abilities and the resources to assert their interpretations. History is recorded on a very subjective level. So, while what knowledge we have of what history is may be slanted, or "true, from a certain point of view," I don't think I would say it consists largely of "lies."
History is my major, and I love it. I do enjoy watching the WWII channel (aka, the History Channel), and just about any historical program on TV, as well. I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do when I graduate next year. It scares me to death. I would love to do something in the field of history, but it is a very limited one. I do not want to teach, and it is unlikely I will find a position for research. So, unfortunately, it looks as though I will be forced, as so many are, to discover a career that has absolutely nothing pertaining to my degree.
EDIT - Awesome...my post says the same thing as Jaxon's! Great minds think alike...
