'Stand by Me' is a very easy song to play that still sounds really good on an acoustic.

In keeping with the stereotype I started out playing guitar with Nirvana songs. First and easiest song to learn: About A Girl

Bush- Glycerine is pretty simple.
AC/DC- awesome stuff but really simple. Especially the rythms.
Of course "Smoke on the Water" is by far the easiest song ever to learn.

Any Bush, Green Day or Nirvana song.
Hotel California by the Eagles is pretty easy too and really will build you up. I'll think of some more....

It's been said before, but-
Smoke on the Water is a standard riff for beginners. It's easy to learn and it sounds good....Even if it is a bit annoying after the first couple o' times.

Yea, I'd like to see a beginner try and play "Thunderstruck" at the same speed as Angus.

A E D mentioned earlier for "What I like about you" is a good one, because without changing the rythym, you also get U2's "Desire" and Neil Diamond's " Sherry".
Guns and Roses has a lot of good three chord rockers..Used to love her = G A D A

Easiest song? Hmm. If you could stand the bar chords, the Jerry Cantrell's "Cut You In".

Something In The Way and Molly's Lips are both real easy two-chorders...
... what about some really easy 12-bar blues stuff? Anything in GDC is pretty easy. Wonderwall by Oasis is pretty easy too.
