Yes Windex, it does suck indeed. In my past 3 work days, I've covered 6 gunshot murders. So my homocide batting average is through the roof. Great, ain't it?
Ugh. And one of the people killed today was like a 20 year old girl that was 7 months pregnant.

But enough about me. What did you do? I hoping somebody had some iced-cream or rode a skateboard or flew a kite or something.

Just want to comment that it's "homicide" with an "i" instead of an "o." With that "o", it takes on a whole new connotation.

It was pleasantly cool, and there were a couple of good looking chicks along the way. Someone was blasting Andrew W.K. in the park, and a bunch of people were dancing. It was fun.

Bismarck, I am not sure whether my brain would be able to process images of real dead people - seen up, close and personal - for even the idea of witnessing a murdered person seems disgusting. It requires a lot of nerves, and a cold head - so I congratulate you for those natural priviledges; as they must be helpful in many stressful situations.

Oh, I guess "homicide" is spelled "homicide" and not "homocide." Normally I'm pretty good at that stuff. I won the school spelling bee in 5th grade.
Yeah, it's really not that much fun covering stories like this. It's hard to describe. It isn't depressing so much as it is heavy. I mean, I'm out on the street with my camera right up against the police tape, looking at all this, and there's absolutely no way to stand there and not dwell on the fact that I'm essentially a giant ziploc bag of water, a collection of cells, and all it takes is one tiny piece of metal to hit me and make all my cells not work anymore. That's what it was like. Looking at that guy in the road, all I could think about was there he is, billions of cells, and they all just stopped working. It's very bizarre. It's not enjoyable to view things like that, but it certainly demands your attention. I mean, what else are you going to look at? The sidewalk? The power lines? Somebody's mailbox?
Oy. I like the days when I go to work and I do a story about a Slurpee machine and people call up and complain about how all our news is fluff. Fluff = people are alive somewhere.

And here is the story about the another dead guy I covered last Friday night.
Oh, I forgot to mention that last night, when I was on call, I went out to this curvy rural road at 1:30 AM, during a horrendous thunderstorm, to where this guy had flipped his pickup truck and slammed it into a tree. I think he's dead. But that one isn't on our website for some reason.

Ah, UNO. Good game, but it's been a long time since I've played it. The "Wild Card" cards I seem to remember come in handy. It is an interesting game, if nothing else. I wonder if you could make a drinking game out of it? Or gamble with it somehow?
