I was born in 1983, and kind of look back on the Reagan and Bush years with distaste...

Anyone remember when the Russian parliament was shelled?

All the boys on my street would be the turtles, and I would always argue with this ohter girl that lived across the street about who would get to be April O'Neil...

Born in the 70's, I remember the 80's. Ahhh, legwarmers, "jelly" shoes, the original Nintendo (which I still have), Tron, wearing polka dots with stripes and thinking it looks good, playing SW and Indiana Jones during recess, Transformers, scratch 'n sniff stickers, School House Rock, PacMan, and more...

Did anyone make friendship bracelets?

I made friendship bracelets. And I must protest, Nintendo was $150 when it came out if you got the full set with ROB. The Robotic Operating Buddy with the pack in video game Gyromite! I remember getting fed up with ROB and just pushing the buttons myself to get the game to go faster. True children of the 80's still remember the Intellivision, Atari 2600 and the Amiga computers.

How about remembering where you were when:
Reagan was shot-I was in First grade
Challenger exploded-6th grade
The Wall fell-9th Grade

Do you remember:
neon shoe laces
swatch watches (perferably multiple ones)

Friendship bracelets - check. Wore mine till it frayed apart.

I wasn't so much a "child" of the 80's as I was a "teenager" of the 80's. Therefore, my memories include:

*Duran Duran (seriously heavy sigh) - I mean, they were an actual band. Not like these boy bands now. They played their own instruments. Okay, not that well, but at least they played them. Here's a pic to remember them by. Duranie's forever!

*Big Hair - Yes, boys and girls, hair was large and the hair spray used in the 80's helped to significantly contribute to the decline of the ozone layer. Ooops! Who knew? blush

*Parachute pants - We really thought they were a good idea. Kinda like the return of 70's clothing, we were taken up by the idea of it. Visit Here to buy your own!

Ah, the memories. I'm going to toddle off and crank up my Whitesnake tape and watch Bosom Buddy reruns. Later, dude! grin

Maulfly - great sig! wink Check out mine! grin

i was an "atari kid" back in the day. i remember when the NES first came out. my best friend got one right away. we would always have heated debates about which was better. obviously the NES was better, but i refused to except it. i was loyal to atari and did not want to think that nintendo was better....but eventually reality hit me and i got a NES for x-mas in 1988. grin

...and i am proud to say that i still have my atari 2600, 7800, and 26 games happy

I am definitely an 80's child. I remember playing Princess Leia on the playground, and I was the only girl who would ever play Star Wars with the boys. The first two movies I remember seeing in the theater are ET, and ROTJ(helps having parents who are sci-fi fans too) And the lightsabers then were cooler than they are now, they were all one length, and they made cool sounds besides just lighting up.

I remember Van Halen before Hagar(and they were better before Hagar too)

Speaking of cartoons, anyone remember that USA network used to have Cartoon Express on everyday after school?

I was born in 1973, so I remember the 80's quite well.

I also had an Atari. My mom and I would stay up late playing River Raid, Frogger, Q-Bert, Millipede, and Pitfall.

Oh yeah I was definitely an "Atari kid" The original Pac-man with the wrong sound effects, Yar's Revenge, Adventure and Space Invaders were my favorites. I also loved all the Activision games like Decathlon, Pitfall and Freeway. I also actually had Pitfall II at one time.

I found a Java version of Frogger on the internet(don't remember where though) but it was EXACTLY like the original. I loved that game on Atari, and I was so excited when I found it to download.

And I wish my original Nintendo still worked, I have tons of games for it, just no way to play them. And the prices they're going for on Ebay are outrageous!!
