Since we can't do polls in YJCC, I thought I'd pose the question this way.
For your consideration, some candidates for best "comic-based" movie:
Batman
Batman Returns
Blade
Spider-Man
Superman
Superman II
Tank Girl
Unbreakable
X-Men
What's your favorite, and why? If you have one that's not on my list above, feel free to add to it!

I'll start with my own opinion.
There are some strong contenders here. You've got Unbreakable which I thought was an outstanding movie, and gave a great look at "comic mythos" applied to "real life." I think what doomed the movie at the box office is that it wasn't marketed as a "comic movie" and so too many people were expecting to see "the Seventh Sense."
There's also X-Men, which with the exception of Rogue's backstory, was amazingly true to the comics. After watching the opening scene of a young Magneto being put in a concentration camp, I was like "Holy ^%*&! This movie is not #$%^ing around!"
Ah, Batman Returns. An excellent exploration into split personalities in the form of Selena/Catwoman & Bruce/Batman.
Who can forget the over-the top camp of Superman II? Plus, it had real dramatic tension (at least compared to the first movie) During TPM when Queen Amidala called for a vote of no confidence, I half expected Chancellor Valorum to say "Why do you say these things, when you know I shall kill you for it?"
And Spider-Man? Holy crap that movie was great!
Offhand, I'd say that the Holy Trinity of "comic movies" is X-Men, Spider-Man, and Batman Returns. The three of them get Top Honors.

Holy crap, I forgot about Spawn!
I still stick with my Holy Trinity though.

Easily Spider Man, no doubt about it. Honorable mention goes to XMen and the first Batman.
Speaking of XMen, JM, you really think that the only think that was messed up was Rogue's origin ? I think the whole continuity was effectively tossed aside once they had original XMen on the same team at the same time as the newer ones.

Captain America has the smoovest groove, not to mention the most happening spandex this side of Kentucky.
The Cap gets my vote.

"Batman Forever". Yes, I know I'll get flamed for this. But I thought Val Kilmer was the best of 'em. Plus the design successfully combined comic-booky silliness with Burton's darkness. And CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! We really got to watch Batman change... see what he's done and what his life's become... awwwww man! And I liked the music better.
Rick McCallum and Tim Burton love you!

that's a hard one. i think that spider-man and x-men are probably tied for best, with superman and batman coming in tied for second best.

Education is very important. School, however, is another matter. Are you suggesting coconuts migrate? You've got red on you. .... helloo ... pickles "So this is how liberty dies... to thunderous applause"

The good ones, best to worst:
Superman
Spider-Man
Batman - this is really good, but I'm not a big Basinger fan
X-men
Batman Returns - to tell the truth, I haven't seen this one in years
Blade
Superman II

Okay, I see your point about the team lineup, but it was still an outstanding movie.

Batman & Robin = WORST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER!
Batman Forever = 2nd WORST COMIC BOOK MOVIE EVER!
But I love Tank Girl and Barb Wire.
