Wow, Amadeus, I don't think we were reading the same post. I certainly didn't read that he was p.o.'d about this kid committing suicide on his birthday and ruining it. And I'm still looking for the responses that said "have a happy birthday anyway." Yours was the only sarcastic one.
wadda may have woken up feeling great about the day and found out a friend/classmate died. How do you think he'd feel?
Anyway, I send my condolences to this child's family. I know what it's like to lose a close family member.
wadda, I sincerely wish you the best on this day and hope that you can provide solace to the family and friends of the child who died.

It wasn't a rash assumption at all, it was backed clearly by the tone and content of your original post.
Also, by the fact that you titled the thread "It's my 16th birthday today..."
You put that part first, THEN mentioned the kid committing suicide.

wadda, my condolences. My best friend's father died last year, almost exactly a year ago, and we still haven't quite gotten over it. I can't imagine what it would be like if a friend died.

I don't know what bothers me more, AmadeusExMachina's insensitive rude, rash comments and the fact he doesn't apologize after he was proven wrong, or the tragic death of someone that wadda knows. Very sorry to hear that wadda.

Yea, I'm being a real heartless monster here...
Let's review.....
1. A child takes his own life.
2. It occurs on someone's birthday, casting a shadow over the day.
As I've said, nothing is wrong with feeling a little bummed out because of the birthday thing, BUT A KID IS DEAD. And you're all, wadda u know included, acting like that's a minor sidenote, and the REAL tragedy is that it ruined wadda u know's mood and his birthday. Your mourning of a person who really wasn't the "victim" of this tragedy in any great way is extremely disrespectful to the kid who is now deceased, and to his family. Think how they'd feel if they read this......to see a classmate of their son complaining about how sad it is, but also the fact that he seems to be complaining instead of mourning, and that he mentioned his birthday in the title and THEN throws in that the kid killed himself.
Some people need to take a look in the mirror before they call ME disrespectful.

What you should really do, Machina, is put yourself in his shoes. You'd probably be in the same boat he was. You'd probably be really discouraged if someone came along and said the very same things to you. Don't even try to tell me you woulnd't react to that, cuz I don't believe that BS.
And why would someone be bummed out because it's their birthday?

Amazing, it's not really "mourning" to come here and say "I have such bad luck, this kid killed himself and ruined my birthday."
Perhaps you should reread what he wrote. I don't recall him saying that, so you certainly shouldn't quote it as such. And since wadda has given us his thoughts and reasoning behind this thread, which ran quite counter to your perceptions, I will leave this alone.

Hey man, somebody from my school dies every year, not every 2 years (I think). A kid had a heart attack at home last year and was found by his girlfriend when she went to pick him up in the morning. This year, a coach died of a heart attack in the gym office. I'm not sure about the year before that.

I almost didn't post in here because of all of the insensitive unneeded Internet DRAMA!, but I really want to give you my condolences Wadda. It's always tragic when someone so young dies, and even moreso when they take their own life. Focus on the fond memories of him. I hope you feel better.
Our Band director died of a heart attack, two days before UIL and a week before our trip to Disney, it's really depressing when someone's death affects a whole community like a school, or like 9/11 affected the whole country.
And in related news, Happy Sweet 16.

He titled it that, which clearly shows what the thought being conveyed was. He acted as if the suicide intruded upon his day. If you think I'm being completely utterly rude and out of line and incorrect, remember that he then posted THIS at the end of his first post...
