John Entwistle, founding member and bass player for the Who for the past, oh, 3 decades or so, was found today, dead in his hotel room of unknown causes. The Who was in Las Vegas, preparing to kick off a 24 venue arena tour starting in the City of Sin (tickets have been on sale for a while now) and even joining up with Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant for a few dates.
It is unknown whether or not they tour will continue or not with a new bassist. Not being in the entertainment world yet, I am not privy to such information.
Where did I hear this? Radio - the unused media medium.
The Who was slated to record a new album, the first in over 20 years, this fall. Entwistle, a small contributor to song writing, was nevertheless supposed to be an integral part of retaining the Who's legendary rock sound on this new album, new tour and so forth.

That's too bad "The Who" was a great band. Daryl Kyle died of unknown causes and later on doctors figured out it was do to heart problms, I hope they find out what have to John Entwistle.

Man... I'm stunned. Entwhistle was one of my favorite bassists in the world. If you ever get a chance to watch the live version of Won't Get Fooled Again in the movie "The Kids Are Alright", dig Entwhistle's playing on that one. For me, that will always be THE image of him... standing there almost motionless and rolling loose with these torrents of powerful bass licks.
I had tickets for their show at Deer Creek near Indianapolis in August... damn. So close...
