Oh please. You can't make a sandwich out of toilet paper. However, in a pinch, you could use bread as toilet paper.

Toilet paper tacos.. yuummmm.....
We have about 10 remotes in the basement. It's a joke with family and friends that if you can run my home entertainment system you can be a brain surgeon.
I can't imagine having them broken. Get up and turn on the tv? To quote Jim Gaffigan-
"Ever lose the remote and think, 'Looks like I'm not watchin' TV! I'd have to take 2 steps and turn it on! I'll go to the gym if I want to work out!' Ever have the TV on and you can't find the remote? Gotta watch that one channel? I feel like I'm in prison!"

That is awful! 
Are any of your other home entertainment equipment the same brand?
In my living room I have 3 remotes(T.V., VCR, & DVD) that could work my T.V. (All Sony, so if I'm in a pinch, I can use one of them. The other ones are Sony, but they don't operate the T.V.)
The only problem though is I don't use any of them for the T.V. because of the Digital Cable. But if that one broke, I would have to use the remote from my bedroom, where I have Digital Cable as well.
And if both were broke, I would just go downstairs and watch T.V. in the basement. Although that one only has basic cable, and I don't have a back up remote for that one, but I could change the channels through the VCR with its remote.
And the VCR remote could act as a back up for my other T.V. in the basement if the the 2 I have for that one were both broke.
And if worst comes to worst, I could look around for my two universal remotes, program them, and use them for each T.V.
You've got to be prepared for such a calamity!
