so it opens on MAY 15th...does this mean

Midnite on May 14th? So Wednesday at Midnite right?

Depends. I know a few theaters playing it tomorrow night at 10pm. Some will play it then, some at midnight, and some on the actual following day. In my case, the actual following day.

I think you're pretty much on target sir. Just like you're "cool" if you bash the SW "prequels" because SW is "classic."

I'm hoping to go to the 1:50pm showing on Friday. I have university from 9:30-12:30pm on Friday so this will leave me enough time to get there and get my ticket and then go to the cheap food shop and get my food before the movie starts. I know this session won't be sold out as it is a school day here in Australia and everyone is at work so they will all go and see the night showings so hopefully the cinema will be empty so I can stretch out and relax.

No, I think it's a "They promised me it would kick more ass than the first and instead it's less philisophical and more repetitive action than the first..."

Go read Harry Knowles' review... I agree with a lot of what he wrote. I disagree with a lot of it too (specifically: Morpheus' speech) -- but the fact is they PROMISED stuff and did NOT deliver on those promises. Especially the part about the ending of The Matrix -- that scene to the "Oh, six months later we're still just getting people out of The Matrix the old-fashioned way" crap. There's a LOT that doesn't make sense this time around, compared to the first movie where everything was pretty tightly woven together to form a rich tapestry of uber-geek coolness.

here in Australia it means a Thursday midnight opening with the first day being the 16th. But this could be different in the USA as we are almost a day ahead so we could be getting it the same time as you.

They're doing the same "Worldwide Release" that Star Wars did.

Most movies open on THURSDAYS in other countries other than the US.

However, since those countries are several hours ahead of the US, it can open Wendesday night in the US because it'll be Thursday SOMEWHERE else that it's opening...
