RE: *~ Matrix: Reloaded, Revolutions and Animatrix Discussion Thread ~*
Saw the Matrix: Reloaded last night at a midnight showing. First forty five minutes or so were pretty slow. Fight scenes that go on for five minutes are one thing. Scenes of people dancing for five minutes aren’t quite so interesting, especially when the dancing is just the informal “move the body to the music” sort. Many of the fight scenes lasted far, far too long. I’d rather be left wanting more than to get bored watching a fight scene, which happened twice for me. The “death” of one character felt too similar to Neo’s “death” in the Matrix. The plot wasn’t exactly the deepest in the world, but there were some fun twists and turns along the way. Aside from those mixed gripes, it was generally a fun movie. The plot twists were the best part of the show by far, especially Neo’s very last fight at the very end.
The Good
Fun plot twists.
Fight scenes were fun to watch, at first at least.
Colonel Sanders is Satan.
The Bad
Scenes drag on way, way too long.
Too much time in Zion.
Repeated a bunch of events from the first film.
Overall: I actually liked it better than the first film. *** out of ****.

The fight and action scenes same thing I know
were very good very well down. The freeway action scene best ever.
Or as for the story still needed a little work it was there but the action over shadowed it. The scenes in Zion. Maybe a little less of Zion. There were parts that I thought did not even need to be in the movie because it slowed it down a lot. The part that slowed it down big time IMO was that party scene. They did not need that. But other then that

I really enjoyed the movie, but it was VERY slow at the beginning. I really didn't care about people dancing and lovemaking (especially without gratuitous female nudity!). And Neo's fight with "The Smith's" just took way too long.
I thought the soundtrack fit in very well. "Mona Lisa Overdrive" during the car chase gave me shivers.
The Revolutions trailer looked very cool at the end, hopefully they did a better job of "filling" that movie.

Reloaded was fantastic and fun. The action was great and the story was good.
I have to say and agree with a few that there were some slow parts; however we must remember this is the middle act and it is setting up for the end.
I think after Revolutions comes out, we will understand why there was so much time spent in Zion.
One thing is definite, the "rabbit hole" gets deeper than before.
I will say that the architect of the Matrix is somewhat hard to understand, so I am going back again and again until I understand what he was talking about.
One other thing, we definitely see that Neo is the One. I am disappointed that he did not have a direct fight with the ghost twins. I wanted to see what he would do to them.

***MAJOR SPOILERS UPCOMING, ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE***
Highlight:
Basically, what we learned is that the Architect built The Matrix. He built the FIRST Matrix as a perfect utopian paradise... and humans rejected it because we're, by nature, imperfect, flawed creatures -- because we require CHOICE. So there was a specific program created to analyze and understand human behavior -- what we know as the Oracle -- and she determined that humans would 99% accept the Matrix as long as they had a choice in the matter, even if the choice was at a deep subconscious level. HOWEVER, by programming this ability for choice into the system, it created an inherently imperfect subroutine -- since choice cannot accurately be predicted -- and that rounding error of sorts is what's called a "systemic anomaly," or The One. So the 1% of humans who reject The Matrix end up forming Zion and luring more people out of the Matrix, however -- this is a repeating process so Zion has been formed, and The One found, FIVE TIMES already. The machines have destroyed Zion and The One the same five times and have become "exceedingly good at it." So now the Architect gave Neo the choice -- continue with that recursive causality loop (i.e. Zion would be destroyed but the human race would continue), or save Trinity and confine the human race to extinction.

I understood it differently...
Spoilers:
I understood that The One was a construct of the Matrix. A construct whose purpose is to prepare the cycle to begin again by selecting the 16 women and 7 men to begin Zion anew after the machines destroy it. So basically, The One is not some random error that appears as prophesized to save humanity, The One exists because the Matrix created it.
Edited your bgcolor a bit...

Gita -- I didn't think that was entirely accurate. Certainly that's the CURRENT usage of The One -- but I think that arises from an adaptation of HOW to deal with the systemic error, rather than the cause of it... if that makes any sense...

Absolutely, but the systematic error is the allowing of choice, not the existence of The One. As you say The One was created, 5 times, by the Matrix itself or the composing higher programs to help in the perpetuation of the cycle.
To me, the whole scene is a longer version of "I am your father." It takes the whole mythos of the first film, the existence of The One as a boone to the Matrix, the prophecy of human freedom, the Oracle, and turns them all around on the viewer. It was the only part of the film that I really liked.
But then, interpretation is a matter of choice and as we know, choice is all there is.

Here's my take of Reloaded:
The movie was definitely entertaining. I enjoyed the plot twists but really didn't understand the whole thing. Neo was really cool within the Matrix, but the best scenes are:
HEAVY SPOILER WARNING:
1) Morpehus finishes off the dreadlock baddies. He gets their car to flip over and blows the car up. Morpheus was so cool.
2) Neo reaches in and pumps Trinity's heart back to life.
3) Neo doing "something" supernatural when he was out of the Matrix. He was able to destroy several Squiddies but the effects sent him in a coma-state.
END SPOILERS
Quick Review - Overall I give the movie 3 out of 4 stars. I
