*Sighs*
After beign hopelessly spoiled now, I find myself (sort of) echoing Cypher's words from Matrix 1: "Why oh why didn't I stay the hell away from this thread?"
...Well, coz waiting another week here for Reloaded was gonna suck.

Well, I have to leave now this is a spoiler tagless thread, a large chunk of the world has to wait a week. But first, a question about the original I heard somewhere:
Cypher ate dinner with Agent Smith. How did he get there? Neo and the others needed Tank. So how did Cypher make it in?

I loved the first movie...I was one of those guys who saw it 3 times in the theaters and would never shut up about it around his friends...come on you know that guy
Anyways...now we are going to talk about Reloaded.
After the first movie came out I had a higher expectation for this movie since it was a sequel. I was following the movie until the 5 minute Zion rave scene. Then it just seemed like a live action anime movie...and I hate anime cause to me they are just weird (maybe it's just me
)And since I borrowed the Matrix Revisited from a friend...and the Wachowski brothers said that they watch anime a lot...I knew that I had my doubts about it.
Anyway they seemed to spend their money on effects when the plot could have been way better. People have been pumping the 100 Agent Smith fight and the freeway fight...but I was just unimpressed with it. I even got bored during the Agent Smith fight. I was hoping that one of the characters would die...you know to symbolize something, but no Neo had to save them...so I felt like I was back in the first movie again. Plus, they got to carried away with the bullet time and the kung fu.
I had higher expectations for this film and I was seriously disappointed. If the box office would have been open last night, I would have asked for my money back. I have decided not to go to see Revolutions.

So that confused me. Did they ALL make the same choice? Then eventually go back to the Architect? They never showed that Trinity ACTUALLY died those 5 other times. They just show her getting shot, and SOMEONE hitting the car on the ground after the fall. But it wasn't clear if that was Trinity or the Agent. So I'm assuming that each neo, each time made the same choice.
No, those screens were the sum total of NEO'S existence. Nothing more than him, nothing less than him. All of the other Ones made their choice to save humanity (their love was general, not specific as Neo's was) -- the Neo's on the screen were the Architect's constructs of him running through every single possible outcome that Neo could choose, yet only the singular Neo talking to the Architect was actually the one to make a decision.

I agree with the dissappointment in this one. Way too much action for no purpose and not NEARLY enough plot or character development. The first fight with the 100 agent smiths could have been 1/3 of the time it was and it would have been an incredible scene. It was boring.
And the Dance scene was uneeded. We know the people in Zion are Human. We don't need to be shoved in the face with their Humanity. The rave scene was useless and most people in my theater agreed. It didn't have to be there at all, let alone be 5 minutes or whatever. At least they could have showed us some dialogue from some of the Captains or SOMETHING.
This movie was just a SCI-FI eyecandy B movie. After "The Matrix", this movie failed miserably.
EDIT
: Oh,

, I thought the Neos on the TVs were the other Neos and how they reacted. interesting.

First off, about Merlin's questions. The five other "One's" (Not Neo's) made the choice to prolong human existence, Neo took the other option. The other One's weren't Neo, it's not like the same exact events had played out five seperate times. Five seperate individuals that were born as the One reached the Source, and took the option to save humanity despite Zion's destruction. History wasn't repeating itself exactly. The cycle played out like this: the Matrix would destroy Zion, start it over again with 23 new freedom fighters, and tell them of the prophecy. It did this to both control the One when he or she was inevitably created again, and control those humans who rejected the Matrix.
The Neo's shown on the screens aren't Neo's predecessors, they were Neo himself (like different aspects of his mind or something). Neo broke the cycle of The One's by choosing the option none of the other One's had chosen before. I hope that clarified things, but it probably just confused you more.
Secondly, my own question. What happened to Tank? Last I checked, he's alive at the end of the first Matrix, but the way Link talks, it seems like we're supposed to think he died with Dozzer. Any ideas?

, I understand it now. I just never got that from the movie.
thanks.
As for Tank, good question. Maybe he died from his wounds?
Maybe one of the "Animatrix" episodes will clear that up?

I have the same question about Tank.
here is something I've been pondering:
Why can Neo stops the squids OUTSIDE the Matrix? Is is really still part of the Matrix? Or my theory is this:
Maybe when Smith tried to change Neo, he some how left some "machine" in him.
And it's pretty sweet that Smith is now outside thw Matrix.

About Neo stopping the squids: I think that's going to be heavily explored in the next film. I've heard some good theories about it earlier in this thread, though. I like the "Firewall" Theory.

Well I was totally satisfied and more. The movie was superb, and in my opinion it was better than the first.
I was one in the beginning that felt after the first film no sequel was needed, because it seemed as though it was done.
But on the contrare, this had to continue, and not only was the film great, the rabbit hole got much deeper in terms of the plot, and I like that even more than the exceptional fight scenes and special effects.
This movie generates so many good discussions about what is to come, the symbolism and spiritual aspects that stand out.
Matrix Reloaded was certainly that, it was loaded and even had some pretty good humor that was not that prevalent in the first film.

Reaper Fett's
Question (from the first Matrix) was:

I have a question too. I was mad that they never explained why they need a phone to get in and out of the matrix. What's the deal with the phones??

I just saw the movie and overall I liked it, but the first 40 or so minutes of the movie really dragged. Oh and I was surpised that there was no reaction at all from the audience that I saw it with. Not during the action scenes or the scenes that were intended for humor, did anybody else have this kind of audience reaction to the movie?

I have a question too. I was mad that they never explained why they need a phone to get in and out of the matrix. What's the deal with the phones??
I'll answer RF's question here as a general answer to all:
Cypher was able to get away with it because they ALL spent a considerable amount of time in the Matrix in the first film. Remember Trinity, Morpheus, Mouse, Cypher, etc. all spent a considerable amount of time in there, regardless of the search for Neo. So clearly the film wouldn't show us every time they're in there. One time, Cypher just contacts Smith. Simple. As to HOW he got away with it, remember that until Reloaded it wasn't standard practice to sit there and watch the code. Cypher was really the only one who did it, unless Neo was in the Matrix. Then everyone watched ONLY Neo. So no one would be watching Cypher.
As for the phones -- you can't accurately pinpoint a cellular phone as it's not connected to a physical space. So you need a landline to initiate a proper traceroute program to extract the carrier signal. Cell phone tracing can only get accurate to within 2-3 meters or so, which isn't close enough.
