    Inset Oblig "Hmmm. Interesting."

Wanted to get that out of the way early.

"I’ve heard Disney has approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg..."

    He's "heard"?

Can you really start working on the eighth before the seventh is finished?

This is fantastic news. Whether or not these guys are the best of the best for the job, I feel reassured Disney is talking to Kasden. How can you not wanna get his take?

Awesome that Kasden might do it, although I thought Arndt was going to do the entire trilogy?

Happy News.....Well atleast with Kasdan. The other guy has written some popular movies, but he really hasn't written any great movies.

I hope they have some notion of where the story is going to go.

as long as the details of eight doesn't contradict seven..... especially if two different guys write the different films...... if the one guy writes Han Solo into episode eight..... and the other guy kills Han Solo in seven, that could cause a little problem

They are all working off of Lucas' story outlines, and I am sure that whoever writes 8 and 9, will have read the screenplay for 7 first.

But the screenplay for 7 is not done yet and yet they are already writing eight right now? And did George Lucas really have an outline of what he wants to happen?

It is has been confirmed by Lucasfilm that Lucas wrote treatments for the new trilogy and probably for other stories. Just because Kasden has been approached, does not mean that he immediately starts work on the scrip....they may just want him to be free to do it when the time comes. Also, who is to say that the screenplay for E7 isn't finished? I'm sure all of the major character and plot points are already mapped out since Arndt did a 40-50 page treatment.

The writer of the article 'heard' this? And doesn't tell us who the source is?

Sounds like BS to attract web visitors a la 'Darth Vader is returning' to me.

Kinda makes me want to design a bogus article about episode 9 and putting it out there to see how much cash I can make on ad revenue. But I won't. Because I'm not a moron.

You normally have a bunch of writers on a big film like this, not just one.

Lucas must have had a falling out with Kasdan. Lucas brought in a screenwriter for AOTC, and didn't call Kasdan.

Deadline is a credible industry news site with many legitimate sources. I can't recall a false article on this site. It wouldn't be posted if the source wasn't someone trusted at Disney.
