You're assuming that people are not trying to better their situations. You shouldn't make such assumptions about people--it kind of makes you come across a bit holier than thou and ignorant.

 

Ok, let's say some of them are doing something to better themselves. If WalMart and other retailers are that bad (more specifically WalMart, since that place seems to be the most evil retailer), why not quit? I would not want to work for somebody that pretty much treats me like a slave.

 

So you don't starve and become homeless? Not sure if you've noticed but jobs aren't exactly thick on the ground right now.

Yes, I do understand. They can always keep the job while they're looking for a new one. It might take some time and you'll have go through more pain at the job, but it will be worth it.

 

Yes, it will be worth it to go from one underpayed/overworked position to another.

I do find it amazing that the top people in the company make more than all their employees combined.

 

I worked at Walmart this past summer. I was a starving college student and I needed the cash. It was an interesting experience to say the least. It seems that Walmart managers like college bound kids because of their intellect, and they are willing to get the job done on time with little to no complaining. I'm probably going to work there again this coming summer, but I don't intend on pursuing a career in that field.

 

So I went up to Walmart to see what it was all like having never seen a black friday thing before even though they opened for it today. Cars were parked all the way back to the Kauffman tires and Pepboys, and the Walmart parking lot was entirely full. Going inside the lines to just check out were circled around the other aisles. People were sitting in chairs waiting in the aisles for stuff that was going on sale at 10 pm. There were at moments hardly any elbow room and you couldn't escape it due to certain aisles being blocked off to house the items that couldn't go on sale yet and to make sure no one tried to take them they had police officers and employees near all the merchandise.

What. The. Heck.

I know this is how it seemingly always is, but why? Why?

I didn't buy anything. I just wanted to see what was all the fuss.

 

My sister-in-law said at Thanksgiving dinner that she's not doing Black Friday shopping this year like she normally does, because the people she usually goes with wanted to go shopping tonight, and she understandably didn't want to do that.

It's bad enough my brother is working at Old Navy now, and has to go into work at midnight tonight for Black Friday.
