Many pieces of art make me feel like I just don't understand.

But could John Howe please illustrate every fantasy novel? Like a picture every ten pages or something like that? Because his paintings just tell that this is fantasy, and you want to read it.

Oh yes. I like many like Howe LOTR. I like his Smaug the best and there is even a statue one can get of it:

Happened across an art intsructional book in B&N today by Tom Kidd. Like all such books one must basically already know how to draw and paint to get anything out of the instruction. Regardless, his art is sweet.

 

Still feeding my dragon fetish. I never did play Lair, and I heard the gameplay was not so great. But that was some good dragon art:

I've seen this one in person. As said above, jpgs don't do painting anywhere near justice. But they don't do object art, like this one, justice either. You really get the texture when you're standing right in front of it.

It's about lesbianism, actually.

Think about it.

 

Is that a painting? That's a very realistic looking painting if so.

I always liked these pieces of 1970s artwork depicting a space colony on a ringworld-like structure:

 

The first one, the Stanford Torus, makes me prefer rings for space habitats. I forget the scientists name but a Russian fellwo criticised these paintings as being "shopping mall in space".

 

I hope that stays. Odd url. The Road To Samarkand whcih I think is a reference to Marco Polo. I do not know the commercial reference for this particular painting.
