Forgive me if this was posted before, if there's existing Indy ranking threads feel free to merge this one. I'm a HUGE Indiana Jones fan and the series is one of my favorites of all-time and honestly even moreso than Star Wars. I love all the films in their own way and my ranking is probably highly unusual and controversial among fans, but for me they go:

    Temple Of Doom
    Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
    The Last Crusade

I think in a lot of ways Raiders is the best but TOD is the one I find the most entertaining and fun. I love the darker tone of it and like how it didn't try to mimic Raiders, yet still kept it's adventurous feeling. I actually rotate back and forth on Last Crusade and Crystal Skull, I enjoy both for their own reasons, but I find I slightly prefer Skull these days. I like the Sci-Fi aspect of it and that it didn't rehash the Nazis again. Crusade is fun but I found the Nazis as the villains again pretty boring and the movie was too lighthearted for my liking, though I still enjoy it tremendously.

Wouldn't mind a fifth film, but they need to get on it now before Ford gets far too old for it, he isn't getting younger.

I love all four, keep in mind. Just because it's lower on the list, don't think I don't like it

    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Last Crusade
    Temple of Doom
    Crystal Skull

Raiders is simply the purest of the lot, the truest to its serial roots while updating for a modern audience (just like SW/ANH).

Bit of a toss-up between TOD & Crusade, but come on - "Oh yeah? And who'sh going to shave you? Junior!?!". Geniush cashting.

And FWIW, I did enjoy Crystal Skull, the others were just better. Didn't like the CGI, but it had loads of good, solid direction from Steven Spielberg that harkened back to the old days, and which you simply wouldn't see from a new director solely used to working with CGI all the time. The style of the opening scene alone immediately took me back a couple of decades (and that had nothing to do with the 1940s setting).

    Last Crusade
    Raiders
    Temple of Doom
Kingdom of the Crystal Dull ....I mean Skull

I really try to this day to like Crystal Skull, and there are a lot of elements that do work. Harrison Ford is still a great Indy, John Williams is on his A-game, the movie looks good and is well-polished. But it just doesn't have the same mojo as the others. Although Raiders brought the genre back to pop culture, Last Crusade is just so much fun that you can't help but love it. From young Indy's chase on the train through the fight on the tank- the whole thing is a masterstroke in action/adventure filmmaking. Temple of Doom scarred and scared me as a kid. I'm still sore at Spielberg/Lucas for that.

The Last Crusade - The most entertaining IJ entry, Ford and Connery are great together.
Raiders - Marion, Egypt, killing the ''machete'' guy with a gun, great movie.
Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - Very entertaining movie, amazing sense of adventure, but the last 20 minutes, with the exception of the final scene, ruin the credibility.
Temple of Doom - Jumping of a plane in an inflateable boat, mine cart chase, annoying Kate Capshaw, slapstick scenes at the beginning... It's just bad.

Raiders of the Losk Ark constantly vies with Ghostbusters as my favorite movie.
    Last Crusade
    Temple of Doom
    Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I like KOTCS as well. I think I have the same problem with it most fans do: the special FX and weird alien scene at the end just pull me out of the movie. I have no problem with aliens being involved, but that alien scene was just horrid and so atypical from the style of the other films.

Funny thing with KOTCS is I used to dislike it at first but it improved a lot with repeat views for me as well as viewing it alongside the original three. I find time has been kind to it.

When I went to see it, I was worried that the story would give Indy another screeching airhead.

    The movie brought back Marion.

That alone is enough to make me love it.

Although I, like many others if commentary is to be believed, could have lived without Shia LeBoeuf, especially as "Indiana Jones III" (or IV or whatever he was).

    1. Temple of Doom - simply one of the best action films I've ever seen. Relentlessly entertaining.
    2. The Last Crusade - Indy's epic. What it lacks in wild action it makes up for in scope.
    3. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Indy's still Indy regardless of age.
    4. Raiders of the Lost Ark - come at me, Internet. I like it, but don't find it as fun as the others.
