Here's a close up look at one of the observation towers in the pod race. Other two images are not new but it was a package deal. One on left does show how the observation tower fits into overall pod race.

You know, the filmmakers deserve just as much props as the model makers. Up closer, you can tell these things aren't real. If you look at OT miniatures, there's toys nowadays that have more detail than them. But when they're filmed, they look absolutely flawless and real, and the illusion of a grandiose scale is sold well. There's just something magical about special effects done right.

 

True. A lot of selling the scale of a miniature is also the lighting and camera work.

 

Like it because you never see these things from behind in the movies.
