Nah, I think this kinda looks more like the result of an Internet debate:

Just taking this one up for a second, I think that image shows what a difference the wrong shade of a costume can do. Those pants are bright blue and seem to have the original 13 colonies of the Union down the side, not to mention bright red boots that look like they must've been stolen off Christopher Reeve's suit. By contrast, the suits we've seen further upthread have what look to be black pants and very dark blue upper body stuff, if not a generally muted colour scheme throughout. Superman's suit was darkened down for Man of Steel and whatever else the movie's issues I think that was a positive move, a nice way to update the costume. I think the same could apply here. As support for the argument--

Leaving asidethe fact William Marston given his proclivities probably would have enjoyed the show the right-hand "Wonder Woman" was in the advantageous lighting which makes the right-hand picture look better, I think a darker colour palette across the board would solve a lot of the "pants issue" here.

And what's ironic is that's the toned down version that WB settled on after the original costume was deemed too tacky. Here's the original outfit:

I have to say I like the blue boots that blend into her pants instead of the red boots that were settled on, but the rubber/pleather/latex shiny pants and top are horrible, horrible, horrible. So at least the modified version muted the colors a bit and toned down the "plastic-ness."

Although it's probably a good thing that this pilot was never picked up. In the pilot, Wonder Woman breaks a criminal's arm and then kills someone else by impaling him through the neck. Steve Trevor marries someone else and Wonder Woman gets jealous. Probably not the best way to re-introduce one of your heroic foundation characters. But I think that's what WB gets for choosing David E Kelly to do this.

I have to admit that even with my anticipation of a B/S film I'm pretty apprehensive about how they handle Wonder Woman. She's not a main protagonist, so the spotlight isn't on her, but even so there's a hell of a lot they have to get right about the character in one hit, or else we're stuck with five or more films' worth of a Wonder Woman to make the world cringe. I'm guessing they'll be running her as a secondary-to-tertiary character in the way Marvel handled Black Widow in IM2, but even so they have to get the character right. I went back to the Roger Ebert review of Man of Steel and one of the insights he had struck me: MoS is a sausage fest. (Okay, he didn't use that term, but it's a summary.) Women in the film basically aren't there to do much more than be rescued or have stuff explained to them. Even if Margot Kidder's Lois was goofy, she still had a certain spunk (stop laughing up there in the back) that let her play off Reeve's Clark Kent in a satisfying way. Admittedly Kate Bosworth's Lois was dull as dishwater, but still, everyone with a vagina in Man of Steel is more or less a cardboard cutout. I remember noting at the time that I was pretty unimpressed with Diane Lane's performance in the film, and I think Ebert's review puts the finger on why: she's not really given that much to work with. Even Phyllis Thaxter in the Donner version seems to have gotten more emotional heft out of her scenes than Diane Lane did.

Anyway, I mention that lengthy aside because I'm really hoping it doesn't translate across into B/S. WW can probably survive if she comes across as mysterious, certainly, but not if she comes across as wan.

SaintBlackheart, isn't that the porno costume?

Wocky, is this along the lines of what you were thinking?

It is indeed the porno costume*, which is saying something given it looks like it had production values superior to the David E. Kelley pilot. The original, and even the retouched, TV series costume looks like some sort of $5.95 thing one's long-suffering and overly-obliging female spouse buys from Victoria's Secret in a sale for one use on the male spouse's birthday...

...also the above picture looks like something out of Roger Ramjet.

    * Important biographical information: the lovely lady wearing that costume is Kimberley Kane, whose "acting" credits also include playing "Agent Scully" in a show that was not The X Files but which featured a commensurate number of orifices being probed.

    From Smallville.

I don't think that looks too bad, and that was on a TV show budget.

    Yeah, that's not bad.

Slightly ridiculous cosplay, but also giving a sense of what a "black yoga pants, black jacket" Wonder Woman might look like...

Just like handling the character, even deciding how she should be costumed is a difficult proposition. I do admit though that I'm a sucker for her Kingdom Come armor.

I like the black pants in that one fine, but that jacket is dreadful. But that's just cosplay. The movie could do a better jacket than that. One would hope.

If Nolan is involved, expect all hope for a "faitfhful" costume to be jettisoned. We'll probably get some black leather or something as far removed as possible from the usual outlandish, comic-booky conventions. Also, she'll probably only be called or referred to as Diana.

And the internet will blow up. Such a monumental display of angst, anger and hatred will power all hiden leylines, opening the gates to the cthonic nether-realms where the Elder Gods slumber, ushering the destruction of this world. What an awesome sight that will be...while it lasts.

It's difficult to make a live-action version of an outlandish costume(e.g. Captain America); probably it is even more difficult when that costume is little more than brightly colored lingerie.

Exactly. I'm not a fan of that classic look, tbh. Beyond objectifying and the like, it is just exactly that: a brightly colored and accessorized bathing suit. It doesn't exactly say "Amazonian warrior" to me.

Looking that, I hope the kingdom leaves again as soon as possible. How completely awful.

Just hoplite armor. Normal, historically accurate armor. That's it. No clown costumes. Is that too much to ask?

Here's about as minimalist, but historically accurate, Hoplite armor for a female would probably look:

It's certainly eh, easier than the Kingdom Come armor for translation on the big screen, but it would be a difficult sell to audiences. Obviously, the Corinthian style helmet would be replaced by Wonder Woman's tiara, so that would be an improvement, but a move away from historical accuracy as well.

That's... not such a good look. I think the pink is rather off-putting.

    I found this somewhere:

Not perfect, but not so hideously pink.

    Yes. Like that.

And we're absolutely not replacing the helmet. Black Panther doesn't fight people with a golden stool. Dr. Doom doesn't have to suffer an ermine robe and scepter. Aqua man doesn't swim around with a giant crown. She's fighting crime, not making a royal appearance. I wish you would try to make me watch some movie about an idiot who fights in a tiara. Who even came up with that?

Sure. Tell Ender to give the Vice President of Hollywood a call. He'll make it happen.
