To be fair that story was about lab science back in the 1990s before the invention of the orgasmatron.

The comments went nuts with anti Obama/anti/gay/anti transgender nonsense.

That moment when he relized he chose the wrong job.

Waxing poetic on the evolution of primate testicles:

These boots were made for walking, I guess. But not for forced marches.

Non-military research funding has been at all-time lows in the US for several years, now. And then we wonder why there's a brain drain.

This is the first flight test of the reusable Falcon stage which was born from the Grasshopper tests.

They've extracted kerosene from sunlight and CO2 for the first time. All that CO2 in the atmosphere may turn out to be a carbon neutral or indeed a renewable energy source. Early stage, yes, but all they really need is a 15% efficient process to produce 20,000 litres of kerosene per day in a square-kilometre solar array.

Changing from fossil fuels to anything else.

Step 1: Stop the "campaign contributions" from oil companies to politicians

Not necessarily -- particularly if the cost of solar reaches a crossover point such that it becomes cheaper to simply put up a solar array rather than pay (indirectly, via the price of coal/oil/uranium) for the source fuel, the pay of the workers who mine it, the facilities required to process it, and the transport costs of getting it to the power plant. After all, that's the main reason nuclear power plants sprung up -- because a nuclear plant onsite, even with all of the attendant risks, regulation, and supply of uranium required, still makes more economic sense than carting in metric tonne after metric tonne of coal. A solar array being able to feasibly power a turbine with the same efficacy as a nuclear or fossil fuel power plant would be close to the ultimate in vertical integration. Don't worry, if the oil companies can be persuaded this has commercial capabilities, they'll be miles ahead of the game.

I'm somewhat skeptical of his... skepticism. This guy absolutely needs gravity waves to not exist because he favors the cyclic model. If there are gravity waves, he's flat out wrong. I'm not saying these objections aren't valid, but I am saying I'd trust objections from other inflationists more.

It has already reached grid parity or better. The oil companies spend as a whole hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying against solar per year.
