    You can say that again.

It frustrates me to no end how few websites include context along with the words (and that goes for English thesauri too). There's countless English-to-[Language] translation sites, but... so, so, so few tell you what the words are used for, which can be so irritating.

One art nay entertained shouldst thee though adopt nonsense lexica.

That intentionally makes almost zero sense because I'm mocking the results of Google Translate to a language's native ear.

Abstruse doesn't mean incoherent. It wouldn't be much of an advanced reader's text if it reads like it's written by a 13 year old trying to impress people on AOL. :p

Edit: when I get home, I have a fanfic to show you all as an example of what I mean. It'll delight, I'm sure.

    Missa ab iPhona mea est.

It's not mine. I wish I could take credit for this.

    Here's the first sentence:

Many, many thesauruses were harmed during the production of this fanfic.

Everybody knows the phrase "cerulean orbs" should only be used when writing softcore Chiss romance novels.

I'd be a little concerned that the rays of the Naboo sun weren't so magnanimous if they were boisterously illuminating those orbs, then...

I was just about to say...

"Fanfic"... this is clearly from Jello's formidable library of Thrawn/Palpatine slash.

On this page (http://www.theforce.net/story/front/SDCC_2014_Star_Wars_A_New_Dawn_Panel_159099.asp), I found the following two tweets interesting:

"The Republic took Clones & makes them people. The Empire takes people & makes them Clones. AWESOME Filoni commentary."

"Stormtroopers are real people turned into numbered clones. Clone troopers opposite."

Interesting philosophy. I look forward to seeing how the novel develops this.

Coop do we need to have a chat about what colour Chiss eyes are and what colour 'cerulean' is?

I'm pretty sure Coop wasn't referring to their eyes.

At least I wasn't when I mentioned Jello's formidable library.

I like that and agree with the idea. Good contrast between not only the Clone Troopers and the Storm Troopers, but the Republic and the Empire as well.

What has the NU said about whether the stormtroopers are clones?

Filoni said something about it yesterday, that by the time we get to Rebels era most of the clones have been phased out due to their losing combat effectiveness in favor of conscripts. He mentioned the ideas of clone degradation, i.e. the further you get down the clone line the farther from the genetic template it becomes and the worse soldiers they are. With most of the first- and second-generation clones gone due to accelerated aging and, well, death in combat, the Empire is moving to a conscription model, which also helps with extending greater control over the population of the planets involved and turns a generation of the galaxy's best into nameless, faceless soldiers. As someone posted elsewhere, its taking people and turning them into clones, while earlier clones were turned into people.

Except maybe for Head-Bumper in ANH, who's said (or at least strongly implied) in AOTC commentary to be a Jango clone.

Interesting, since Lucas had said differently at one point.

But one thing doesn't make sense - why (as the mention in various EU sources - and again, Lucas) don't they use new clone donors? Because Filoni's statement seems to imply they were still just using Jango's material.

Also, it bugs me that stormtroopers are yet again being shown as the Empire's army, rather than their elite forces. I'm glad FFG (like WEG) has ignored this interpretation.

Er, what else would they use? It's not like the stormtroopers in the OT appear very elite.

I guess a couple guys managed to stay fit enough to slip through the cracks.

Regular troops? And I won't get into the old argument about the effectiveness of stormtroopers in the OT.

Besides which, their RL namesake were specialist troops.
