Well it's more that we need Turkey as a NATO ally, and Israel wants all the attention and sympathy as genocide victims, so the Armenian genocide is officially not a thing in the West.

I'm still not exactly sure what the Republic of Turkey has to lose by not denying it. Financial loss from potential reparations, I guess, but the current Turkish state was founded by overthrowing the one that genocide-ed the Armenians (and Greeks and Assyrians).

    Pride?

And generally the Armenian Genocide is understood to include the indigenous and Greek Christian populations, right? That's how I learned it.

Sure, but the term Armenian Genocide refers to the historical act which included those groups. I take your point though.

I'd like to hear from Jabba-wocky in defence of Mr Obama's abject cowardice regarding the Genocide. Why, Wocky, is Mr Obama so deplorably lacking courage on this matter?

"would also make it illegal to use the term 'Polish death camp' anywhere in the world"

But how else would you refer to Polish death camps if you can't call them Polish death camps?

Can you get away with "death camps in Poland"?

Needs an asterisk denoting it's a Polish death camp.

    Oh. ****.

I realised the law wants to make it illegal to refer to Polish death camps anywhere in the word and I keep referring to Polish death camps. This ban on Polish death camps as a phrase is really going to be the end of me.

    So wait, what happened?

He had reports that he disbelieved? Or he had reports that he believed and refused to pass on? That's something of an important distinction.

He had reports which turned out to be true but at the time of receiving the reports an “aide” convinced him were unreliable because the source of reports were liars and exaggerated things according to the aide.
Sounds like this aide deserves a place in the special hell.
