Had an awesome game with a local player, at 400 points. Ran two Victory class and a Gladiator class, with Interceptor and bomber support. Totally demolished my opponent by turn four. I really like this game a lot more than Xwing!

Battle report, third battle in the Hirschau system.

This system has become a hotbed of Rebel activity, as the scum mounts yet another assault in an attempt to take the system. Admiral Screed on board the Victory class Star Destroyer Blood Reaver took command of Blood Squadron, and beat the rebels back with heavy losses.

This was a 400 point game, my opponents teamed up to take on my fleet. One of them was still learning so to make things easier they decided not to take any upgrades.

    Blood Squadron

VSD II Blood Reaver, Screed, expanded launchers, flight controllers, XX-9 lasers

VSD I Ravager, Sensor team, Intel officer

Gladiator II Demolisher, engine techs, advanced concussion missiles, Wulff Yularen

Soontir Fel, Howlrunner, Mauler Mithel, 3 Interceptors and a TIE fighter squadron finished the fleet, 396 points. Objectives were Minefields, Hyperspace Assault and Advanced Gunnery.

The rebel fleet had an Assault Frigate carrying Mon Mothma, A CR90A, 2 Nebulon B Escorts and a Nebulon B Support. NO upgrades installed, and 4 Xwings and Dutch Vander leading 2 Ywing squadrons. 399 points. Not sure what their objectives were as we used mine, me choosing to go second.

They picked Hyperspace assault, and the Ravager promptly made a microjump out.

The AF set up in their center with two nebs to the right and the other 2 ships to the left. I faced the Blood Reaver directly at the whale, with the fighters in close support (for the squadron commands) and the Demolisher off to my left.

At the top of turn two, the Ravager had come out of Hyperspace directly on the enemy left flank, and proceeded to blow a Nebulon completely out of the sky, thanks to concentrate fire, Screed, and two arcs fire. The fighter wing jumped en masse all over the Ywings and proceeded to rip them apart, while the Gladiator did what Gladiators do and took another Nebulon down to one hit, which was finished off by one of the Interceptors. My three Interceptors had been taken down to one hit each however, and one round of good shooting from the remaining Neb took all three out!

In the center the flagships were headed right at each other, but after a pass and furious firing they managed to fly past each other still reasonably intact. At this point the store was about to close and the game was called.

Imperial losses: 3 Interceptor Squadrons, and the Ravager one hit away from dust.

Rebel losses: two Nebulon B corvettes, one damaged CR90, some light damage on the AF, light damage on the remaining Nebulon B, Dutch Vander and two Ywing squadrons and one xwing squadron.

Insights: I am not sold on Yularen. I did not get a chance to bank even one nav token as I kept actually using every nav command I put on that thing.

Sensor and Intel are highly situational; I did to use both, and it did have some effect but not as huge as I thought.

Rebel ships without upgrades don’t stand a chance, unless they are maybe the dreaded 7 CR90 rambuild.

Now hopefully Imperial Holonet services picks this up…..

I had a work thing in St. Paul MN last week. Packed my bags half full of X-wing minis, in case I had a chance to go to the FFG HQ. Made it out there on Friday-- and was super impressed. That is the Mecca of gaming stores. Huge space, a full service haute cuisine restaurant, library of games to play, huge artwork from their games, and lots of merch in their store. They had displays too of the new Star Wars minis for both Armada and Xwing.

Sadly, no one was playing Xwing when I took the taxi out there. Xwing nite was a Wednesday, and I showed up on Friday. So, instead, I watched some guys play Armada while the guy who created the rules for armada (Sam something something) helped them out with some game play.

It was worth the cab fare, even if I didn't get to play.

    Absolutely! Good luck!

The link I posted above is for a web-based X-wing (the tabletop game) sim. The AI is pretty good. It has beaten me a few times. It is great for practicing swarm tactics, practicing avoiding those asteroids, or for just recreating the battle above Endor. It has a link to the developers blog with more info about the site. Great to whittle away the time at work (not that I would do that), and for preparing for the day when I can field the Ghost Crew into battle against Dengar and his wife Maronroo.

Annd the tourney was in the bag, once again won it with a perfect 30-0 tourney score. Must say I have become the master of disaster when it comes to this game, fleet tactics suit me. of course being in full uniform probably helped...hehe.

Awesome! And, I can see the pics on their facebook page. Nice uniform captain. I think the wave 2 ships should be out soon for Armada. Enjoy your Star Destroyers.

So I just started playing this game, and I got a question for you. On cards like this that say action, you can only do that action during the action phase and uses up your one action, correct? [IMG]

So for example, that second card. If I rolled a hit result during the action phase the next action phase I could perform my other actions.

That is correct. You can use your one action during the activation phase to perform the action on the crit card.

Imagine you are Han and you pulled the console fire card. You don't have to focus! You gotta yell at that walking carpet of a co pilot of yours to get the fire extinguisher!

Having said that, there is not a rule that said you have to do the crit card action. If you think it to be to your advantage to focus or target lock, you may do so and deal with the crit later. Maybe you want to token up, to fire off those proton rockets.

Also, if you are allowed to do more than one action, like if you are Darth Vader or if you have Push The Limit or if you get a free action from a friendly ship like Landon, you still can. For example, lets say Darth got console fire. Because the sith lord can do two actions, he can do the card action and then focus.
X wing is a great game. I just wish I could play it more. Hopefully, one of our local stores will do a Xwing night of something. Regardless, you can always fly with us jar jar!

Thank you! I started about a month or two ago and have played most Friday's at my local comic book shop with my friend. We have the core set, I bought Imperial Aces and he bought the Millennium Falcon, so it's been pretty fun so far but every now and then we catch we interpreted something wrong. We almost have it all down haha.

Well, i hope to do them all: or all the ones Ms. Jammies will let me (except for the ones in Paducah or Murray). Louisville Game Shop is right by our house, so I will certainly do that one.

The trick is coming up with a good list, and then getting some practice time in. I really do not know who plays other than us, and we are not that competitive (but we are fun).

Last year, my list was a counter to what I assumed people were going to play. My Falcon and E-wing were to mess up some Tie Phantoms and IG-88s. instead they got creamed by B-wings and my Dyslexia flying Han off the board. This year, I need a more general list, yet i have to plan against the Twin Laser Turret "meta" that i assume will be there. I do not want to make the same mistake as last year, and build against a list that won't be there-- but the TLT lists are so very easy to play and win (X-wing easy mode) that I would have to at least consider it while building my list.

First, my list was 4 Daggar Squadron B-wings (I just finished re-painting 4 Bs). Then I went to all X-wings: Poe, Luke, and Wedge. Then B-wings and Poe. And now I am at "Red Ace" T-70 X-Wing, 2 B-wings at PS4, and then 10 points (do I drop a B down to PS2 and take a Z-95? Or Do I buff up the two B-wings with cards from the Rebels' Phantom set?, or do I join the devil and drop a B for a TLT of my own?

Meh. A month from now it will be a TIE Swarm :)
