Discussion Actors you'd like to see in Star Wars

In a way, Jason Isaacs has already been in Star Wars, at least his voice. He was the voice of the Inquisitor in Rebels Season 1.

If they ever replace Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine, I think Bill Nighy should step into his shoes.

 

I think Max Von Sydow and ...I've just forgotten the actors name...the guy who plays Tywin Lannister were BORN to play Imperial Officers! Pity MVS is being used for a different role in TFA.

 

Charles Dance was Tywin Lannister, and you're right: he has that Imperial air about him.

On the other hand, I think he may have been great as Joruus C'baoth if they had ever made the Thrawn Trilogy.

Well yeah, that was kind of my point. He is leading him down a potentially dark path.
On the other hand, what he stops him from doing is taking revenge while drunk, unfocused and full of rage. There is no honor in that.
He inevitably teaches him how to harness that energy for better.
There is a scene, later when Alejandro(Banderas) is confronted with his own brother's head preserved in a jar (scene actually based on true events) where he drinks and toasts with his enemy, and walks away so as not to reveal his identity, even though it's killing him not to fight and attack out of anger.
But by now he's recognized the bigger picture, that there is a whole people that needs to be freed, and that comes first.
That's what he gets from Diego (Hopkins) and the honor that comes with his mission as Zorro.
In the end while they are trying to save the people in the mine, Captain Love tries to stop them, as Diego predicted comes into Alejandro's circle again. chooses his own fate. Alejandro now defeats him (revenge and redemption might not be so bad here), in the end Love is crushed by the very gold he was squandering.
The path they walk is a little more gray recognizably more dark than the Jedi, but like I said in ultimately both these guys, manage to use their "dark-side"/ identities for good, to selflessly help others. Diego dies knowing his daughter now knows the truth, and that his legacy lives on in both of them now.

There is something to be said for balance, not denying you carry a dark side, especially if you've been wronged, embracing rather than denying that part, like Luke dressed in black, recognizing and channeling it for good, is what allows them to survive and not be consumed, Yes in the end they end up wearing dark "masks", but ultimately use it so they can walk a righteous path.

It is strange Zorro came into this conversation, especially knowing how the old Zorro serials influence both Lucas and Spielberg.

My favorite actor among the younger generation is Jake Gyllenhaal. I would really like to see him in Star Wars.

[Inigo switches on jewel handled lightsaber]
Inigo: (to Emperor) Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you wrecked his Father, prepare to die!
[Emperor cackles, suddenly Inigo corners the Emperor with his saber, and slashes his cheek, giving him a scar]
Inigo: Offer him credits.
Emperor: Yes!
Inigo : Power, too, promise him that.
[He slashes his other cheek]
Emperor: All that I have and more. Please...
Inigo: Offer him anything he asks for.
Emperor: Anything he wants...
[Inigo aims his saber at the Emperor's heart]
Inigo: He wants his father back, you son of a bitch!
[Inigo runs the Emperor through, and tosses him into the reactor bellow]
Inigo: You don't mess with somebody's Father.

 

I just want to see Anthony Ingruber play Han Solo.

Lennie James from the Walking Dead as an awesome zen Jedi Master would be epic on so many levels.

 

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as anything. He could be a jedi, a knight of ren, an imperial, a rebel commander, a smuggler or bounty hunter, anything.

 

Let's see... Manu Bennett as Boba Fett, Peter Dinklage to voice some character (an animated thrawn series would be good)
