Animated Shorts The Micro Series & Genndy Tartakovsky appreciation thread

I'm surprised that this thread is still going.

 

I just got done watching the entire show (at just over two hours, that's not a huge feat) for the first time since it finished ten years ago, and wow was that fantastic. Story Group and EU purge be darned, I'm now accepting this as my head canon version of how the Clone Wars went down, and plan to include it in saga marathons from here on out. I'd love to own it on Blu-ray, but for whatever reason Lucasfilm has outright pretended it doesn't exist since the 08 series was announced.

 

This version is 10x better than 08 in my opinion. Also, to all those that complain its too short, watch them on youtube, or DVD where they are put together into one 2 hour movie.

 

I prefer 08 because its not TFU force level powers and they talk sometimes.

 

I like it more then TFU. I appreciate the power levels. It wasnt that insane except for Mace and Yoda on the Jedi Side but that makes sense you actually felt that the Order's Top Guys were scary. I mean Mace is suppose to be the most feared guy in the galaxy you actually felt that whereas u never got that in TCW but that is probably because Filoni hates Mace Windu.

 

The only other major problem i had was that Grevious was way to OP compared to his movie portrayal.

 

The movie portrayal is underpowered to his micro-series appearance.

 

George Lucas came up with Grevious so i say its the other way around IMO.

 

Agreed, I was a tad disappointed when I saw him in ROTS

 

I dont think Grevious was too egregious but that might just be the TCW clouding me the gap between him in Microseries to PT is smaller in my mind to him in PT to TCW. Micro God of War, PT still badass........TCW absolute Joke.

 

First appearance was the micro-series. That is more important imo.

 

Well, just before the start of ROTS he got his lung plates crushed by Mace Windu. No surprise he wasn't in top form.

 

Guess to be fair they were all overpowered and the Jedi showing fear to Grievous appeared removed by the time of the movie were the character is basically nearly useless against an experienced Jedi(this holds in even the TCW). But it should be noted that in Lucas' early drafts of the TPM, the Jedi and Sith fight at lightning speeds to where you only see a blur. Lucas removed that idea and eventually even Force speed seemed removed in the later films, but during the films the Jedi' ability to use was diminishing so their powers would've been leveling down not up, unless they started willing tapping into the Dark Side. The Dark Side and Light Side in those movies appeared to have followed a meter something like in the Jedi Knight game.

And how is it supposed to work?
If they were working on the micro-series and ROTS at the same time, why wasn't there better coordination?

 

Name one multimedia project that has had such a coordination, somehow it never works :/

 

The multimedia grievous was pretty hilarious. The elevator scene always makes me laugh.


Also one question, why did he not kill Shaak Ti? They don't give us any reason in the show so I'm curious.


That train scene was also pretty fun.

 

The train scene kicked butt. The microseries had a lot of fine moments in it. In my personal headcanon, I integrate the microseries and TCW into one complete show. It's kind of inconsistent, but it works for me.

 

I should have said train-cape scene. where grievous gets distracted long enough for Shaak Ti to tie his cape to the train but that train scene was also good. And i also intigrate them into one big show

This show was so good. I really wish Lucasfilm would stop acting like this series doesn't exist and just release it on Blu-Ray already. The DVD's are great and all, but a Blu-Ray edition of this series would be a must have.

 

Agreed. But then the almighty Filoni would be infuriated.
