Yes, let's hope so! It might be a bloody mess not suitable for children at all, but since Disney probably wants their share of toys and similar it would not be really logical to make it too-out-of-range, like a 15-years rating.

What is the american movie ratings exactly? PG13 I guess is 13 years, but is there any limits under and over that?

R is for 17 and older. G has no limit and PG is about the same unless you're a baby I guess.

G (general audiences) - suitable for anyone
PG (parental guidance) - suitable for anyone, but parents are advised to make sure their kid can handle it
PG-13 (parental guidance 13) - suitable for kids 13 and up so long as the parents think they're ready
R (restricted) - suitable for 18 and up

That's not to say anyone can't go. A 12 year old could certainly see an R rated movie if their parents were ok with it. It's more of a guideline than a law

What is the discussion for TFA, that it will get R or PG13 or even PG?

    It's between PG and PG13. But there's little doubt it'll be PG13.

If it is belived to be a "soft" PG13 then I think there is a good chance that it will be a swedish 11-years rating and not 15.

Every PG13 blockbuster these days is an 11 rating. I don't see Star Wars of all things getting more gritty.

It'll get PG-13 because basically if it's not animated and there's any action and/or death, it gets a PG-13. Basically in the US every single blockbuster movie gets a PG-13. Technically they can swear in a PG-13, it just certainly won't happen in Star Wars. But people will die in explosions so, yeah, PG-13.

Well SW has had "damn" and "hell" before, but that's hardly like a "TIMMY SHIELD YOUR EARS" type of cursing

It's interesting though how in barely a dozen years, PG has become nearly nonexistent

Still surprised to see this isn't rated....

I mean....PG-13, OF COURSE!! Why wait to say so!?

It's definately not R, and based on the trailers alone, there's no way it'd be PG-the way PG is today....

    "G, is RIGHT OUT..."

Do any one know if it is unusual for a movie to not be rated about a month before release?

For a typical movie I guess most do not care / know when the actual rating takes place.

I believe I've seen "not yet rated" as little as a month before in the past. But I've never seen it less than that, to my memory. [face_thinking]

Turns out it's not ACTUALLY rated PG-13 yet... the MPAA ratings board has said nothing about it... they're still saying NR on the TV sports. But looks like with all the tickets they're pre-printing, they've just assumed it's going to be rated PG-13.

Forbidden Island, Yeah. I saw that too-that's what I was referring to in my previous post. I remember saying something about it out loud and my wife was like "why does that matter?" And I'm like...

    "IT MATTERS."

    Because, STAR WARS.

If it's not rated PG-13 in the States, I'll eat this post.

Definitely PG in Ontario Canada, though. Hey now!

In Sweden, the pre-bougth tickets for TFA has a 15-years rating which are the highest. I guess that is a way to be able to adjust downwards later.

XD, last rated "R" big budget Hollywood production was Kingsman. But that actually barely made its money back here in the U.S, but worldwide, it made 400 million dollars.
