Totally your fault. Luckily for you, I don't have any sausage at home, so I'm eating a pomegranate instead. My friend brought me some from Crete and they're amazing.

You reminded me of rosette, though. :D

Do you have what they call "kiełbasa wiejska" there? It's the kielbasa that's most common in N. America, it's my favourite though.
I've never had kulen and now I really want to try it. I have had Prague ham. I'm not sure that I have had the other one, though. I am not a big prosciutto eater.

And in Serbian, kobasice rhymes with goat. Because Balkans :p

Will you stop talking about sausages? I'm stuck with a piece of fruit right now and I can feel my cholesterol levels going down.

Those are...not really what I meant, if Google translate was accurate. :p

Pomegranates are too good not to eat. Which is lucky, given how much trouble they are. I wouldn't do all that peeling and seeding for a fruit I'm not particularly convinced about.

Some comics with food in it:

Food Wars - a manga about an elite chef school that uses many different visual metaphors to make preparing food, cooking food, tasting food, and merely talking about food intense enough to make you think you're reading a shonen battle manga.

Get Jiro - in an near future were going to the right restaurants and eating the right food is everything two groups control the market with iron fists. Their balance of power changes when both sides do the mistake to try to recruit the master edo-style sushi chef Jiro.

Multiple Warheads - in a strange science-fiction-fantasy world ex-organ smuggler Sexica and her werewolf boyfriend Nikoli deside to go on a road trip after their house have been bombed. Unlike the other two is food not really part of the main story and all the food is fictive but presented in such a way that you wish you could taste it.

I can personally recommend both Multiple Warheads and Food Wars but I found the main character in Get Jiro a bit to much of an elitist jerk for my likening.

Mmm... pomegranates! They are a pain to get out, but so worth it!

Re: American English - We butcher a lot of words, though there has been a push to correctly pronounce newer things or at least things newer to us, but things that have been ingrained in our culture like bologna... probably are going to stay that way. :( When gyros started to become a big thing a lot of people were pronouncing it jeer-row or jai-row, but you would quite often hear people correct it and I don't hear very many people mispronouncing it (I think ;) ) anymore.

My uncle swears they're pronounced "gear-o," to the point that he gets angry when I say them "correctly" (which, IIRC, is "yir-oh" or similar...right Chyn?). ;)

Oh dear. I need to get my hands on those comics Gamiel listed. That sort of thing is totally for me.

And yes Goodwood it's pronounced yee-roh -- which is the accusative form, but that's fair enough, it's rarely the subject in a sentence anyway. When I travelled to the US and the UK, people thought I was weird because I continued declining Greek words even in English sentences :p

I pronounced it hee-roh for the longest time, because that's how everyone else in my family pronounced it. It always struck others as odd because they would say jai-roh. I've started to use yee-roh, but some places still have no idea what I'm saying.

And I buzzed my hair again. Ready for Ranger School.

Mia Mesharad , you wanted to be tagged for a nice conversation :) what are your thoughts about comics with food in them, how Americans pronounce foreign food and/or goats?

Here we spell it yiros and pronounce it the same way, and no, I don't know why it's in plural! (although this conversation seems very familiar...)

I do love pomegranates though, and those look amazing, Chyntuck!
