Which of the Star Wars soundtracks is your favorite?

An updated poll to include Episode 7. Should be fun to see how this shakes down.

 

It's hard to beat Empire!

 

ESB without a doubt.

 

ROTS

 

It's a stone cold classic.

 

Have to go with Empire. Phenomenal soundtrack for a phenomenal movie.

 

Definitely ROTS. Listening to it right now in fact.

 

Revenge of the Sith

 

I voted TPM because I think Duel of the Fates is the best 4 minutes work John Williams has ever done. They're all brilliant though and are a large percentage of the reason I love Star Wars.

 

Such a hard choice.

 

Star Wars. The original and still the best. It's great to just put it on and listen to it right through, without stopping. Reflects the emotions and tension so well.

 

It's surprising how such a terrible movie could be outdone with just one song.....but not just any one song. Duel of the Fates is my #4 favorite out of all of the movies, and if you disclude Main Title, it falls secomd.

 

ROTS. (ESB is close second)

 

ANH. Works best for me as musical story-telling

 

jeez. so much of the OT soundtracks are seared into my brain. i'd say it's a tight race between ESB and ANH, with ESB winning by a nose

but really, john williams did tremendous work on all of the sw scores

 

A New Hope could be John Williams's best work. So many original pieces came from that film: Binary Sunset, Main Title, Cantina Band, the Throne Room...and they all radiated "Star Wars" through the hopeful tremolos and celebratory horns.

 

ESB.

 

I think last time I voted for TESB, but I think I'm going to listen to each of them all the way through today, and vote with a more informed opinion a bit later.

 

TPM. Love that version of the main theme, Duel of the Fates, the Flag Parade, it's all great.

 

Upon listening to them all again, I'm going to have to go with Star Wars. Interestingly enough, I prefer it for one of the reasons the film itself is my favorite out of all of them: I can't pick a favorite part. For instance, with the score for The Empire Strikes Back, much like with the film itself, I can pick out favorite songs/scenes, moments that stand out from the rest. With Star Wars, both the film and the score, I can't; it's all my favorite part. It's all just so consistently, seamlessly perfect from start to finish.

 

Surprisingly ROTS, it's usually Empire. I just love a lot of the tracks on it, like Battle of Heroes, Anakins Betrayal and Padmes Ruminations.

 

TFA for sure! Its just a masterpiece. Nuff said

 

Currently: ROTS - Anakin's Dark Deeds is amazing, even more so when you realise how much it is referenced in a critical moment in TFA...

 

Hmmm, I don't usually like doing this , but if I could I would change to ESB. I forgot how good that soundtrack is.

 

Revenge of the Sith. I'm a total sucker for that movie as it is, that the music excellence that is John Williams just feels more potent when paired either with me watching the scenes or recalling them in my head as I listen to the soundtrack.
