Last time, I said: So:
III, V, VII all tied, and then:

I just saw Rogue One, so I'm going to throw that in the rankings (no spoilers, obviously).

As time has passed, I haven't started disliking Ep VII more, but I've realized that it's quality is going to be very dependent on the quality of the sequels. Especially if Kylo Ren isn't developed well moving forward (but also lots of other stuff), then Ep VII will be remembered as a promising start with no satisfying end. It's the opposite of Ep III, in a lot of ways: Ep 3 could have been so much more amazing if the other two had made us care more about Anakin and developed him a little more convincingly, without changing a single thing about the episode itself. Funny to see how much my rankings have changed!

Still love them all! Greatest Saga of all time. I also truly do think Rogue One fits neatly enough into the Saga to be deserving of inclusion here. I'd watch it during any Star Wars marathon!

I'm not sure how posting a list of movies in a certain order can be considered trolling. It's not reasonable to be trolled by something so innocuous.

The top tier SW films

TPM- Incredibly underrated and most visuallly "warm" SW film

AOTC- Use to be my least fav but I appreciate the highs of this film

ANH- It's ok....Will never get the hype for this film. Rogue One made me like it more

ROTJ- Overrated and underrated at the same time. Weakest out of the original saga.

TFA- I enjoy some aspects but I didn't care at all about the film after a few days.

Both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back are such great films and being that they are so different, I am fine with someone picking one over the other. All things considered, Empire is probably the somewhat superior film overall, but being that that is generally the accepted view, I would put Star Wars at the top of the heap in my ranking. Furthermore, if Empire has a weakness, it is that it is a bit jarring when viewed right on top of Star Wars '77. They are both truly great though.

That would mean that my ranking would look like this:

1.) Star Wars
2.) The Empire Strikes Back


3.) Return of the Jedi


4.) The Phantom Menace



5.) Revenge of the Sith






6.) Attack of the Clones



















7.) Film #7

 

There is no rating, there is the SAGA, there is no ranking, there is STAR WARS....and bashing leads to the Dark Side. Seriously though, I never liked ratings very much. Each Lucas episode (I - VI) is a vital part of the larger story. I wouldn't leave a single one out, NOT A SINGLE ONE, though I may not enjoy each one equally watching it. I admit I have not watched TCW series (only maybe 3 or 4 episodes), Holiday Special or other spin-offs. I can do without the Ewok movies. I watched TFA but am not willing to accept it as canon at this point. And no, I even haven't had the chance to see R1 yet. Not that I don't want to watch it, just haven't had the opportunity, believe it or not.
If forced to rank the REAL saga (the LUCAS saga), it would probably be like this:
1. AOTC = ROTS = ANH
2. ESB = TPM
3. maybe ROTJ; alternatively ESB > TPM = ROTJ
If I could ever be bothered to distinguish between a better and slightly lesser half it would have to be: A category: AOTC - ROTS - ANH; B category: TPM - ESB - ROTJ. But in fact even that is BS, as I happen to regard all SIX as THE SAGA, period. As such they all fulfill their part in the greater story and not one of them is expendable or redundant.
