For my part, I'm simply joking about how happy people were with the footage we got of TFA in the various teasers and trailers and finally from the film itself, but once it became hip to hate on TFA, much of the initial joy and praise was forgotten. And now the cycle begins again.

By far and away the most interesting snippet from all this is the question uttered by Luke to Rey.
"Who are you?"..
Now first and foremost, you would presume Luke immediately senses just how strong with the Force this mysterious girl is. And more intriguingly, she has in her possession his fathers old lightsabre. The same one Obi Wan first gave to him all those years ago on Tatooine. The same one he'd assumed was forever lost after the duel with Vader on Bespin..

 

"It's now or never" line is terrible. I don't care about the context. that's something that belongs in I, Frankenstein and such schlock. That one had "this ends tonight" line.

 

Star Wars lines tend to be terrible. Not sure what people expect. Tolstoy?

 

Is it really no worse than "punch it Chewie" by Han?

Or Finn's "Are we really doing this" to Rey during the Falcon chase in TFA?

Their lines make sense in that context, and I'm more holding on to the edge of my seat to see if the Falcon gets away than to worry about what the characters yell in that exasurbating situation.

 

It's about the same quality as, "Who are you," which on top of being predictable and bland, is also redundant from the TFA trailer.

But I also agree with Knessa84 that SW is what it is, and cheese is a part of that.

 

Maybe "who are you" is an anagram to "my baby girl"

 

When, "you'll never be as strong as Darth Vader" leaked, didn't people think that sounded awful? I mean, I still think it's a bad line, lol, but in context it works. It's Star Wars.

 

okay but what was leia and finn and chewie doing? did they appear in a void? that's the most interesting bits to me, because the "who are you?" is just disney ****ing w/ us obviously

 

I would not advise using the Falcon's head right after Chewie is done, Jedi or not.

 

Yeah, I have no problem with this kind of line in SW.

Out of context, these lines are also cheesy.

Now or never is probably one of the least hokey lines in the SW universe lol.

 

The tone has always been pulpy. It's the clunkers or the overly declaratory lines I'm not so fond of.

 

wasn't there word of Kylo having "a bad line delivery"? it could have been his voice.
