Trump reminds me of Boris Yeltsin. I've ben thinking about it a long time now, and couldn't put my finger on it. Now, I finally did.

Another incompetent, ignorant, bumbling idiot, corrupt buffoon, whose kids and other relatives used his office to promote themselves and get rich; and who was also helped by an outside power (US) to attain and retain power. Not Putin. Yeah, Putin's family have benefited plenty too. But they are private about it.

You'd be lucky to find a single pic of Putin's daughters, anywhere online. Only ones I've seen are o them as kids. Nobody even knows what they look like now! There are guesses, there is one rich lad in Moscow who is ASSUMED to be the elder daughter. But nobody KNOWS for sure. Crazy...

But with Yeltsin, it was all out there

Helping Trump win the election may well have been less about the sanctions or geopolitics, and more about simple revenge for the Russians. For the 90s. Their own little message to Americans: now YOU will learn, the hard way, what it's like to live under a moron like Yeltsin... lol

I've been struggling a bit with what's canonical in terms of White House statements



Does Sean Spicer have the canonical authority to canonize as canonical the president's Twitter feed, or is the Twitter feed self-canonizing?

I suppose we probably have to subdivide "Things Trump Says" into

1) Things he says on the White House lawn at a podium
2) Things he says in interviews
3) Things he says in private conversations with former FBI directors
4) Things he says at commencement addresses

etc.

 

His campaign statements are now Legends.

 

Trump canon is actually really straightforward: policy >= tweets >= public statements > everything else > prequel trilogy.
