Speculation New lightsaber gimmicks?

Lulu Mars, and TCF-1138, I also have always pictured her with a blue lightsaber as well. And with some sort of shiny, silverish and elegantly designed type hilt, which would be characteristic of her apparent sense of style. (Meaning, as opposed to the more functional look of the lightsabers Luke, Anakin and Obi Wan had.)

 

I'm not entirely sold on Leia wielding a blue lightsaber, myself. For some reason, I'm leaning more toward green or purple!

At the end of the day, though, maybe blue would make the most sense.

 

Lulu Mars, the only reason I didn't go with green is cos that was Luke's color. Purple? I suppose I'm not too averse to that. Although I doubt it would ever happen.

But then again, I suppose Leia using a lighsaber in and of itself is wishful thinking, really!

 

Leia's sabre would have to be hot pink!!!!!!!

 

I agree that we've already had our gimmick for this trilogy (Kylo Ren's 'crossguard') so I don't necessarily expect any more in the next two films.

Yellow would be cool to see as far as blade colors go, though, as well as...white in the Ahsoka onscreen sense.

 

I still want to see someone throw a lightsaber and catch it back.

Yes, Vader threw his in ROTJ, but let it fall (presumably-at least we didn't SEE him catch it). And yes, Yoda threw it into a clone trooper in ROTS, but he was like a couple feet in front of him, and it didn't boomerang. I'm talking about a full-on, long range, multiple-hit boomerang throw, Jedi Outcast style!

That would definitely be a "rewind on blu-ray" moment for me!

Man, how would a kid wield that thing?!?!

 

With proper training, kids wield melee weapons extremely well. Google SCA youth combat, or check out any of the videos that show little kids with black belts.

 

In other notes, I'm desperately hoping that Rey's insistence on her staff as a melee weapon means that she'll eventually upgrade to a double-bladed lightsaber.

 

What makes these "gimmicks" and not world building/design evolution like the types of vehicles and blaster weapons?
