Neil's in the Garth Edwards camp.
He has great ideas and visual sense, but he has a rough time with plot (edit: actually, he can write an interesting plot. Delete this bit) and dialog.

I can look at Chappie, and I can see what he's trying to do, but it doesn't quite work.
I think, like Gareth, he needs his hand held when it comes to "human" characters. And that matters alot in Star Wars.

But give him a story heavily based on the lives of Droids. The IG88 movie. :)

    So. This Taika thing...
    Click bait or genuine?

Okay... It's a story fluttering around dodgy rumour sites right now.
Some reporter must have said "What about that Taika?" to Kathleen Kennedy, and she said ""I would love for him to direct a Star Wars movie. I think he has exactly the right sensibility"

    And that's all.
    Okay. Fair enough.
    Doesn't mean much.

I find it amazingly hilarious that Kennedy said Taika Waititi has the right "sensibility" for SW, just after giving Lord and Miller the bullet.

    Rian Johnson........haha just kidding.

And to think they've given him a whole trilogy, the horror!!!!!!!!!

Joe Johnston...kind of surprised Disney hasn't tapped him yet. He'd certainly be instrumental in making me see whatever SW movie he'd helm*; otherwise, no one. I'm good waiting on the Obi-Wan standalone.

*I hope Marvel nabs him again for something too.

Probably repeating myself...but he's the only one now.

Apparently after The Silver Chair, he’s done. He’s retiring.

Yes, I read about Joe’s retirement after I posted, but was unable to get back into the forum to update. Thank you.

With Joe out, I cannot think of anyone due to the LFL brass. Whomever takes on SW, I wish them well.

After the bad writing of Rian Johnson in TLJ, any future directors should pay attention to past lore and stay true to the characters. Whether the director is Spielberg, Nolan, etc.

The artistry and cinematography of TLJ was ok, the problem was the poor writing and character development.

It's even more funny after watching TLJ, where they open a skywalker saga film with a skit from SNL.

I really have no idea what's going on at lucasfilm anymore.

I want Tommy Wiseau, just so he can say "Oh, hai Mark!" to Hamill when they meet on set. :)

    I'll bite.

Kathryn Bigelow or Sofia Coppola. If they haven't been mentioned.

    And Clint Eastwood.

Maybe they could get him to direct Kenobi. They better move fast tho. He's not getting any younger.

    Alfonso Cuaron.
    Guillermo del Toro.
    Park Chan-wook.
    Sofia Coppola.
    Darren Aronofsky.
    Christopher Nolan.
    Bong Joon Ho.
    David Yates.
    The Wachowskis.

They could bring so much to the SW universe.

Guillermo Del Toro...he's expressed interest in making a movie about Jabba, but I'd love to see him tackle something along the lines of a myth, or fairy tale about the Force set during the galaxy's very early history, perhaps even before the Jedi existed. A GFFA version of Journey to the West, maybe.

A film by Taiki Waititi would be funny and silly and poke fun at favorite characters.
True Star Wars fans don't like that.
    Star Wars is Serious Business.

My dream director for a Star Wars film would be Alfonso Cuaron. If Rian doesn't helm the director's chair for the entire new trilogy he's working on, I really hope that Cuaron is approached to do either the second or third film.
