I really appreciated being able to note the progression that was being made, each time I refreshed the maintenance placeholder.

Correct, this is what I was alluding to as well. And, I don't think Grimby is correct (unless I'm misunderstanding) but it may have to do with our themes/CSS (and therefore "not fixable"), which is fine -- will just take some getting used to.

The header goes all the way across the screen unlike the picture BF2K1 posted?

Based on my barely remembered CSS days, how do you plan to cater for both desktop and mobile displays, with a fixed width?

The point of CSS, or at least the one that I appreciated it for (unless I am confusing it with my barely remembered XHTML days) was that the screen width adjusted itself to fit whatever resolution was being used.

The boards are getting noticeably faster as we go on, so the indices appear to be finishing building... @Grahame (thank you)

That header only looks like it stretches from end to end because the background color is consistent. The actual page content on that entire page is fixed to a maximum width. If you have more than one monitor, try stretching your browser window even wider. You won't see the content stretch to fill the empty space.

The web has evolved since then. Modern HTML and CSS design largely involves "responsive" layouts that cater to both desktop and mobile devices of various widths. What a lot of them do at the high end though is set a maximum width for the page content, which is what we have here. That doesn't mean, however, that we can't modify it to be wider than it is currently.

How do you see signatures? I thought I found the setting, but I still can't see them.

    Uh, Yellow Alert.

Has anyone noticed that the Star Wars Fan Fiction sub forum is missing?

My screen from both the front page showing all forums, and from within FanFic, is only showing three instead of four forums:

    Fan Fiction and Writing Resource

Fan Fiction Stories--Classic JC Board (Reply Only) Archive stuff, last updated in 2011.

    Non Star Wars Fan Fiction

If you're on mobile, you may not be able to see them with your phone in portrait mode. They're hidden as part of the simplification for lower width screens.

Rotate your phone to landscape and you'll see signatures.

Damn, it was actually Comms that was supposed to be deleted. Someone's got some explaining to do...

Why do you say that the upgrade to 2.0 shouldn't require as much prep as the upgrade to 1.5? I have a xenforo site of my own and that's definitely not the impression I got when I looked into moving to 2.0.

Because upgrading from 1.1 was a borderline nightmare. Now that we're using the next-highest version, I don't see it being nearly as difficult to upgrade the software or the add-ons.

The text seems larger than it was before. Any way to fix the size?

I don't understand any of the technical jargon that's been mentioned previously on this thread, all I do know is that it looks great and is super speedy here in the UK!

    Good job guys!
