Kenobi : Ewan McGregor in potential Kenobi movie OR series

If they do a Kenobi film theres the dilemna of where does it get set. Do they leave him on Tatooine where we assume he always stayed to watch over Luke? Do they take him on an adventure off planet?

Even though we've had TCW cartoons, I've been of the opinion that shouldn't restrict them in doing a film set right in the PT era featuring Obi-Wan and Anakin on some kind of adventure or mission. Maybe throw in Ventress or something like that too.

 

That could work.

 

It would be a missed opportunity not to get Liam Nelson back as Qui Gon even for a Cameo or couple of scenes.

Heck even if you ain't a fan of the prequels its still Liam Nelson.

 

Not official but majorly hinted at to the point where its hard to imagine why it wouldn't be made.

 

He loves Star Wars so he should be back.

 

Also it would make a boat load of money

 

* Young Luke Skywalker and his friends (Biggs, Tank & Camie)
* Qui-Gon Jinn
* Owen & Beru Lars
* Asajj Ventress (what if she created the Knights of Ren?)
* An aging Clone Commander wouldn't be out of place
* Jabba, Jabba's thugs and the Rancor
* Tusken Raiders
* Jawas
* Pirates, scum and other villains that inhabit Mos Eisley

 

Really, they could even just use his voice, like they did with Yoda speaking with him in TCW The Lost Missions.

 

I have wondered if they will ever be able to incorporate the deleted Luke Tatooine scenes into an anthology movie somehow. I had the thought that it could be done with Rogue One, given that we knew the movie was happening right before ANH. It would have seen forced, given how that movie proceeded, but maybe could be done in another film?

I do think the Kenobi movie should have the Lars in it, and resolve some of the unfinished business there between those characters.

 

Id imagine if they were gonna get Liam in then it would be a visual appearance since its a film that reaches out to a larger audience and there may be an audience who ain't aware of whose voice its meant to be unless he appears on screen and then they can say oh its him from episode 1.

 

I still like JJM’s kenobi as the basis but a more refined John Wick with bounty hunters finding him would be amazing. Get embo and a few others from the comics or TCW would be amazing. The next best thing to lightsaber vs saber.

Back when Rogue One was being produced, I also wondered if they'd try to work those scenes in there somehow. I know some people hate post-credit scenes, and that we've never seen them in SW films before, but I thought it would have been really cool if they would have included those scenes, particularly the one where Luke observes the space battle, at the end of the credits of Rogue One. .

I don't know if there's really any good quality negatives left of these scenes that could be properly cleaned up and restored. If we would have seen them at some point time, (apart from deleted scenes discs, online, etc), I imagine they would have been incorporated into the first version of Special Edition, as that definitely would have generated a lot of fan interest at the time. It would have also added more weight to the "new" scene of Biggs and Luke meeting each other at Yavin 4 towards the end of the film.

older obi/ben and older uncle lars have to save a kidnapped Luke from a gang or tusken raiders....With Obi being a Ronin wander with Uncle Lars being this farmer/cowboy

Or a Leia gets kidnapped and Obi must go off to save her?thats how she learns about him maybe?

 

How about Kenobi on Jeddah? That could be interesting.

I really hope not. It would be far too much work for very little reward, and let's face it, the best place for those scenes was the cutting room floor.

 

Yes!! Interacting with characters like Chirrut or Baze and other Guardians. There could be a good plot point along the lines of Obi-Wan first coming upon the clone army in Kamino, which became such a huge deal later. He could go to Jedha, see the Empire start mining the Kyber crystals, and suspect something terrible was coming.

 

Some of those scenes are indeed best left forgotten.

 

I always imagined that Tattooine could host some cool canyon type city, maybe Anchorhead or something, at the edge of the Dune Sea. A mashup of these type of images, where some of the story could take place...

 

It's funny how uncle Owen talks about the status of Obi-Wan.

"That wizard's just a crazy old man." [He's alive]
And then....
"I don't think he exists anymore." [Not certain, but Obi-Wan might be dead]
And then....
"He died about the same time as your father." [He's dead]

 

I want this so bad, but at the same time I seriously don't want to watch another movie set on a desert planet/tattooine. But I don't want a Obi-Wan Prequel either because it'd feel weird and unnecessary. Hopefully only a small portion of the film will be in Tattooine if it's one post ROTS (which it most likely is)

 

If it is post ROTS how do you want Obi Wan taken off Tatooine?

 

He could Astral Project.
The effort could age him a decade so that he is transformed from Ewan to Alec.
