That pop star stuff might be fun at first, but then you'd be stuck with a dead end job. Too bad you can't just do it once and move on.—Phineas Flynn, “Flop Starz”

Ah, the one-hit wonder! You know them. You love them… Those musical acts who reach the top of the charts just once. Their songs might be strange or silly or sappy, but they’re always insanely catchy...and maybe even inspiring!

So, without further ado, here’s the
    One-Hit Wonder Challenge!

I’ve compiled an entirely unscientific list of songs from 1957 to the present. These acts are one-hit wonders on the United States pop music charts (it’s possible that they have more than one hit in another country or a :different musical genre, though).

How do you play? The rules are as simple as a one-hit wonder’s lyrics!

Bow, Chicka, Bow-Wow, That's what my baby says!

    The Rules
    1. Pick a number between 1 and 25. I’ll give you a one-hit wonder and a link to its lyrics. (All songs are TOS compliant).
    2. Write a story inspired by your hit. SW and NSWFF are allowed, any era or genre. Remember to keep your story TOS compliant, too.
    3. Post a link to your story here and include “One-Hit Wonder Challenge “ in the title.
    4. There’s no deadline for writing, and no prize… just fun.

Who do you think we are, some two-bit hacks who will keep writing new songs just because you pay us obscene amounts of cash?!—Phineas

Good luck, and here’s hoping this will inspire some stories whose appeal is impossible to duplicate!

Woot, here it is! You know me... I love a good no-deadline challenge, so I am definitely in. The Google random number generator has given me 3, so that's what I'd like to take, please. :)

Well, I know Mav's song, but not the other two. I like all three so far, though and mine fits like a glove - just what I needed for my epic.

Yeesss!! I was hoping for an oldie!

Chantilly Lace is a great song, EP! When I was little I 'stole' a tape from my parents called The Immortals of Rock and Roll, so it was Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Elvis, The Big Bopper, etc. and that was one of the songs on it. Man, I miss that tape.

Aaand I heard yours through Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers. It's a monstrosity, but it was a great way for us kids to get into so, so, so many early rock and roll to glam rock songs. :)

Yeah... I don't need another challenge (I'm sure I have a few I've forgotten about but I'm not going to worry about them because it is 2018 and I write what I want).

    Anyways #10 please!

Sooo ... I already have a few of these roulettes that I need to stop stalling and finish my entries for. Which of course means I'll add this challenge to the list, too. ;) [face_whistling]

    I'll take number 8! :D
