ST Rey's New Lightsaber

People went bat**** enough over the crossguard lightsaber. I doubt we'll see much beyond a standard or mayyyyybe double-bladed saber (which is what I hope for, personally)

 

Ya the most unique thing we might get is the double.

 

Hopefully Luke's old lightsaber calls to Rey again in 9 and says "Psst, put me back together."

I still want a double-bladed one myself. We haven't seen a light sider use one on-film yet and it'd be a nice callback to her staff.

 

They weren't afraid to experiment with new force powers in the Last Jedi so never say never

We never see Luke's green saber in TLJ.

Rey may retrieve it.


That pic of the DB red/blue is really neat. I'd like that, but not a fan of the 'grey Jedi' viewpoint.

 

Let's give Rey all the lightsabers! She starts out with a double ended blue lightsaber then ends the movie with Luke's green lightsaber.

I'd imagine Kylo seeing the green lightsaber again wouldn't go without comment. He'll be all, "I see your now using the lightsaber that your master once held above my head. Are you here to finish what he couldn't do?"

 

I almost want her to use it just so a line like that can be said.

 

I like the katana idea I think it should have a “classic” feel to it, and reflect Rey’s saber-fightibg style thus far. I really don’t want the saber to look gimmicky.

 

And she could say yes but she would mean that she’ll turn him back to the light side, something Luke couldn’t do.

 

I would lose my muffins if Rey busted out a blue double-blader in 9. Would be so awesome!!

 

I think she'll use a double bladed saber. I think the hilt will be made out of part of her staff

 

I want Kylo to be wearing a monocle in Ep. 9 just so we can see the monocle drop from his face when he's surprised by Rey's double bladed saber.

 

Rey will get so strong with the force, she won't need a lightsaber. Rather, she can just make a blade shoot from her fist.
Kylo: "What... how did you do that?!"
Rey: "I don't know! I just made a fist and it happened!"

 

Am I do the only one who wants her to just use Anakin’s crystal and have a cracked crystal saber like Kylo?

 

Or maybe she learnt it from Luke.

I would like to see both of those happen, with yellow blades to distinguish from the PT era Jedi.

 

There will be a huge time gap. I am sure they will contact an aged Justin Theroux again to break some code.

 

Im not a fan of seeing her using a double bladed lightsaber.

They are harder to train/use then a regular one anyways.

For a jedi in training, its best for her to improve her abilities in the single blade, preferably in figuring out how to repair anakins blade, or finding Luke's green saber.

I would even be ok with the double bladed lightsaber not getting a comeback in the ST era and beyond.

Let it remain a weapon of a by gone age, a time in which the jedi order was large and the Sith existed. Would love to see older versions of it if Disney gives us old republic material, or getting a new PT era jedi with one. Of course we could continue to get more stories about the Inquisitors using their versions.

 

The PT era Jedi did have yellow blades though.

 

Anakin's crystal is blue so they have to stick with that colour

 

The Temple guards had yellow blades, but they werent in the movies, so I think a yellow blade on screen would certainly distinguish Rey's saber from those that have been seen on screen before. I'd also like to see some leather wrapping on her hilt, making it look more rustic, rather than a shiny silver hilt.

 

Does anyone think the "proto-saber" that appears to the mcguffin in Secrets of the Empire is going to tie into IX at all? Or will that be for another part of the lore?
