Discussion UPDATED: Game of Thrones Creators NOT to Write/Produce a New Series of Star Wars Films

After IX comes out, I can see them rotating between this new trilogy, RJ's trilogy, and anthologies every year.

 

Good.
We can get the hate angles started nice and early with these movies.

 

These guys or Peter Jackson for movies in the Old Sith era.

 

I took it as they are essentially taking over the anthologies. But who knows, this announcement raises more questions than it does answers.

 

So... There was a bunch of Twilight films that came out - I never watched them because I had zero interest in them! Pretty simple really.

I love GOT and am hoping these guys do a series of bounty hunter films!!

 

You get a trilogy, you get a trilogy, you get a trilogy, we all get a trilogy!

 

Tbh my criticism goes way further than "they're not as good as Martin". Even if I could forgive the shortcuts and the bad plotting (since they don't have any more book material to bail them out), I find most of the main characters really badly written and the drama super uninteresting. Even before they straight up ran out of book material, the writing was already going WAY downhill. Dorne can be the shining example. And this isn't even mentioning their treatment of women, bc good lord.

Obviously this isn't necessarily the thread for this, so agree to disagree I guess.

 

They always compound the hype. Rebels season 4, Solo trailers, and now another new SW film series.

 

I can never get enough Star Wars so this is good news to me. I say bring it on!

 

Really...after The Hobbit films?? I don't trust him anymore... He went all "Lucas" with his cgi and technology!

The PJ that did LOTR's was in his prime!

 

Notice how these announcements only get made right before Iger goes on a quarterly earnings report.

 

As long as it feels like Star Wars and it doesn't suck, I'm game.

That said, if it is not involving the Skywalker saga, then I have to be fully transparent and point out I do have lower expectations for those endeavors.

 

Surprising news that throws up a lot of questions. Would they run trilogies side by side? When would these be out? Will they still continue with standalone anthologies?

Quite an amazing time to be a fan with all these films. They’re like Mogwais being dunked in water, lots of films appearing everywhere.

 

Here at Star Wars, we have trouble keeping up with how many things we hate.

 

It’d be cool if after IX comes out, they rotate between the anthology films, RJ’s trilogy, and D&D’s trilogy in a three-year cycle.

 

I still think that between episode 9 and either of these new series, there is room for another movie.

I still think Kenobi is hidden in quiet development

 

I think that soon we will have more than one movie a year. It will be like Marvel. You have now the RJ's trilogy + the anthology movies. The word "series" suggest more movies than a simple trilogy.

 

I pretty much hated GoT as an adaptation of ASoIaF and I've seen and read enough of their interviews to know I really don't like the way they approach and think about creating their stuff, so *sigh*.

 

They could work I could really see that happening.
