Aw but dude Han name-dropping Shara Bae and Kes DamerOnFleek is a high point of the post-RotJ story!

    :(

Is it wrong to want characters to be relatable?

Hey, at least we had Poe referring to the Crait base’s door as “big-ass” in TLJ.

Is it ok to use vulgarity on the boards when it’s a direct quote from the films?

That was great. I heart that mutinous Poe Dameron sometimes.

I think I want to take a moment to thank Lucas right now for not including "groovy" in the OT...

I'm sorry but an Ewok slicer? I'm not trying to be racist, but how and why would an Ewok be into computers? They were supposed to be a primitive tribe of sentients on a distant world. Why does Star Wars even need to use them again? The Legends EU had tons of Ewok stuff; totally unnecessary. In nu canon, its even worse. Aftermath has them act like therapy dogs for medical patients. They aren't teddy bears, what the heck. Then this book does a 180 and has an Ewok character that is a prodigy slicer. Sure, its new but come on. Its like having a T'surr as your accountant. It just hits the ear wrong. I'm sure you can craft a great story of a Ewok stowaway who learned he was good with computers but why bother. I'd rather they make the slicer a Columi. Those eggheads are canon or it could be a Bith or Givin. Yeah, a Givin. That'd be appropriate.

Ewoks have always been known as being "remarkably quick learners when exposed to advanced technology and mechanical practices." That one might become a slicing prodigy doesn't seem that far a stretch.

I'm super entertained by the idea of an Ewok slicer. Star Wars has always had zany bits of flavor and I really enjoy that (though I can understand why some don't like it in the same amounts I do). Plus, across an entire galaxy containing a hundred quadrillion beings you're bound to run into some oddities.

Had to wookiepedia him. Genetic engineering could make it acceptable. I also thought Ewoks like Wookiees were incapable of learning Basic.

Ewok slicer isn't even the zaniest thing in the book...

It took Paploo literally two seconds to learn how to drive an Imperial speeder bike. Honestly, what's more unrealistic is that the Ewoks haven't taken over the galaxy by the time of The Force Awakens. Once they had access to any leftover Imperial ships and weapons on their world, it would be over for the fledgling New Republic.

The Ewok movies, even assuming "translation convention" with them all really speaking a non-Basic human language, made it clear in Legends that Ewoks are capable of learning and speaking languages that humans can.

It would surprise me if the newcanon specifically changed this.

Ooh, Ewoks? I'm excited to see them in the New Republic-era. Last time they were referenced in a specific context was in the Aftermath trilogy. IIRC, Ewoks became sort of caretakers to wounded New Republic military personnel. They viewed it as their solemn duty, as a way of thanking the Rebellion/NR for defeating the Empire and saving their homeworld.

I'm all for seeing more Ewoks. Hell, I'm still waiting on a book where Senator Wicket meets with Senator Organa. ;)
