I went with E.T. as well. While I think Close Encounters will likely be remembered by musicologists as his most innovative work, E.T. simply wins me over for it's charm.

Superman. That and Empire Strikes Back are his masterpieces imo. Also Jaws. The barrel chase. [face_love]

Hook should really get a lot more love. It's fantastically magical and swashbuckling.

Hook is probably my favorite by Williams outside of Star Wars and it was also the Steven Spielberg movie I watched the most growing up as a kid.

Not sure if there is a correlation there or not...

I shy away from Indiana Jones, not because they're not great. They are. I shy away because they're almost too obvious a choice.

Yeah the Harry Potter scores from Williams are also a great pick. Very memorable.

For me it's Harry Potter and Jurassic Park. The music in Harry Potter has a magical feel to me. Hedwig's Theme is incredible and I love Christmas at Hogwarts too. Sorcerer's Stone is my favorite HP film and part of that is for the music.

Yes when Harry lets Hedwig go in the snow and the theme soars...

For me, it's a toss-up between the Indiana Jones series and Superman.

I also really like Lincoln and SpaceCamp. And Jurassic Park gets an Honorable Mention.

The funny thing is, I was a SpaceCamp fan for thirty years before I bought the soundtrack, and in all that time I NEVER knew that John Williams had done the score. It took buying the CD for me to find that out.

Temple of Doom score is epic. I like Short Round's theme. And Marion's theme from Raiders. Also AI is a great score. And The Accidental Tourist. I like his piano driven work.

Superman. I really missed it with these new films. My little brothers were superhero fans and I grew up with Christopher Reeve's portrayal. I will even admit that I loved Superman Returns and Brandon Routh.

I voted for E.T. because it's much more subtle than some of the other scores. Fanfares in SW and Indiana Jones are great, but E.T. shows another side of Williams' music that probably doesn't get as much attention. Another nice Williams score that I think hasn't been mentioned yet is Dracula. The movie itself is mediocre IMO, but the score is really nice.

Yes I recently watched Dracula and was thrilled to hear a score from JW's amazing late 70's early 80s period. The love theme from Dracula is amazing.

I watched Midway last night. JW came up with a great rousing catchy march for the end titles; I wish it had featured more prominently in the film.

I still think Superman wins hands down. Hearing 5 seconds of the theme in Justice League made the movie for me.
