Yeah, but that in itself was a continuity flub since the Enterprise-E had a holographic "viewscreen" a year earlier in Star Trek: First Contact. The mistake was in Deep Space Nine making a big dumb deal about it, not in Discovery using an inferior version of that technology a century earlier. But that's Trek fans for you.

Well to be fair, those guys on DS9 are in a backwards Cardassian station and don't get out much, except to go through the wormhole to beat up the Dominion a bit. :p

But did they use it the same way they started using it in DS9 ala Star Wars holographic communications, where the figure shows up on a pad?

Discovery's holograms can walk around the room and even "sit" on objects a la Kenobi's ghost sitting on a log in ROTJ.

In First Contact? No, they did something much more impressive, they projected all of space in front of the ship.
I love the visual on that. The way the computer sees the caller sitting and has to "jump" the image so that the image of the caller is sitting on something in the room rather than just floating in midair or projecting the chair on the other end.

On trek there was most certainly advancement between the 23rd and 24th century-better sensors, holograms(EMH), AI(Data), faster ships-slip drive, transwarp, better warp.

The 24th century is more advanced than TOS-but I don't really count discovery anyway.

In the 24th century-the EMH is a sentient being(or becomes one) and he is a hologram.

Transporter mishaps are less common, etc...

A close observer will notice that the federation of Kirk's day is not as advanced as that of Picard, Janeway, and Sisko.

In the SF Debris forums I said that Discovery is a result of FIRST CONTACT and the Temporal Cold War putting up technology about a hundred years.

Armitage Hux exists in the Legends Universe, though his father died an "Imperial hero" and he was raised by foster parents, getting better parenting as a result. He's a cocky but competent Captain in the Imperial Remnant, commanding a one-off prototype Star Destroyer called the Finalizer, which acts as both an exploration vessel and as means of terminating threats to the Remnant. Finn is the head of the Stormtrooper Unit onboard Hux's ship. An ion storm briefly sends the crew of the Finalizer in an alternative reality...

So does Krennic, but he never gets put in charge of the Death Star Project and remains a low-rent Imperial official that eventually goes off to found his own technology research company acting as a Corrupt Corporate Exec and maybe a post-NJO era antagonist, with Erso as his foil.

Rey is probably a Jedi in the NJO, and Poe likely flies for the GA. Jakku exists, but without a battle being present over the world, it just remains one of many lifeless desert worlds, likely without even getting a name. Hosnian Prime is the Nu-Canon name for Denon, likely renamed for a Rebel hero that existed in NuCanon but didn't in Legends.

As @Charlemagne19 mentioned, Dark Empire Palpatine being Vitiate rather than actual Palpatine. Explains the drastic change in behaviour, and why his goals suddenly shift from just ruling forever to 'eating Galaxies', something that was much more Vitiate's thing than Palpatine's.

Mortis is just one of many Monoliths, and is still out there somewhere, just has nothing of relevance in it other than some sort of artificial lava and grassy-plains like internal structure and several decayed bodies. There's many Monoliths scattered around the Galaxy from past civilizations, Celestials, Rakatans and so on, but they are nothing special other than ancient experimentation into habitation and prison tech.

Sword of the Jedi was to be named such because it included Jaina slaying Abeloth once and for all with the Mortis Dagger.

I like to think Allana would be the one to climactically defeat Abeloth and either kill her or re-imprison her for the next 100,000 years.

I still like the idea that Allana is a runaway princess and has no interest in ruling over a bunch of pirate Amazons.

    Jabba

+ Jabba the Hutt is notably an actual Prince of the Hutts (Russian style Prince rather than Royal Prince) but his family was exiled due to the myriad crimes of his father, Zorba the Hutt. It's why he's exiled to Tatooine and rules over the planet there rather than living in Hutt Space.

+ This is shocking but Jabba used to be quite affable, not just for a Hutt either. "Jabba the Reasonable" was his nickname before he became "Jabba the Exalted." The shift in his personality came down to two things happening:

    1. Jabba was betrayed by his favorite pilot who made him look like a fool and joined the Rebellion, bringing a large amount of Imperial attention down on his criminal
syndicate. The fact he'd given Han time to make up for it made it sting earlier.

    2. Jabba's son Rotta was killed during one of the Empire's myriad sting operations. This tragedy led to Jabba becoming much more cynical, bloodthirsty, and prone to elaborate displays of opulence/perversity.

    Rebels

+ Kallus and Zeb are involved. Yes, that way.

+ Kallus' disillusionment with the Empire was furthered by the fact he researched the destruction of Geonosis and found out it was only one of a number of genocides. He also grossly underestimated what had been done to Zeb's people.

+ Kallus' career in the ISB was derailed by the discovery of his sexuality. His prospects were doomed the moment they found out he had been involved with aliens.

    Lost Stars and Aftermath

+ Cienna Re remained uncooperative and resistant to interrogation for months as interrogators tried to sort out how a member of the Death's Head Squadron and one of Gallius Rax's personally chosen candidates (recommended by Tarkin) was squeaky clean of atrocities. In the end, she was released to "Imperial" custody on Coruscant under the Peace Treaty.

+ Cienna had close to a nervous breakddown when Mas Amedda surrendered the Empire and ordered her to cooperate, which meant that the long contradiction wth her oaths was over.

+ Thane and she did NOT get together because he was horrified she'd remained with the Empire over a point of principle.

+ The Imperial Republic (aka the "Rump Empire) remained extant on Coruscant for ten years as Mas Amedda and Coruscant were used as dumping grounds for unreconstructed Imperials. It finally ended when Mas Amedda outlived his usefulness and the government was dissolved.

This plan contributed to many of them becoming agents of the First Order and helping them financially.

+ Coruscant, by this time, had lost considerable financial as well as political influence.

    Solo

+ Q'ira betrayed Darth Maul and left him abandoned on Malachor. However, the destruction of the Empire meant the end of the Crimson Dawn soon after.

What happened to Cienna after all that? She drank. Heavily. It's not very pleasant to remember.

Honestly, that sort of thing happened to a lot of Imperials who didn't escape to the Unknown Regions or defect to the Alliance.

Hmm, I rarely read Marvel SW anymore due to my dislike of the new canon, but after seeing the preview for Darth Vader v2 #19, I just had to buy it. And I have a new headcanon for Legends Eeth Koth who was seemingly replaced by Agen Kolar in Legends without explanation...
Just like his canon counterpart, Eeth Koth was kicked out of the Council and the Jedi for having a relationship and getting someone pregnant. This would add even more to Anakin's fear of telling the Jedi about Padme's pregnancy in ROTS--if even a high ranking Jedi Master on the Council Eeth Koth can be expelled and disgraced, there is no way Anakin can come clean about his childbirth concerns to any Jedi.

+ Darth Maul was found by a kindly Naboo engineer in the bottom of the power core. The engineer set up Darth Maul on an equivalent of dialysis with the local medical engineers. Naboo science being incredibly advanced was able to save Maul--who promptly murdered them all then had himself transferred back to his ship. Knowing he was unfit to be Sidious' apprentice, he brooded and contemplated what to do until he went mad.

+ Prince Xizor's hatred of the Sith was fueled in part by the fact Maul murdered all of his literal uncles to become head of Black Sun.

+ Crimson Dawn is the Maul Loyalist faction of the Black Sun civil war. Their name reflects their unimaginative minds.

+ Up until Maul's death at Kenobi's hands, Sidious remained completely aware of Maul and considered him a backup apprentice due to Vader's injuries. Maul's hatred of his master combined with how his humiliations had taught him to be a coward, manipulative, skulking, and treacherous were things Sidious was genuinely impressed by.

He had considered Maul a lost cause but all of the horrors meant he'd learned to use his mind as well as lost any sense of warrior's pride/honor.

+ In Legends, the fight between Maul and Vader in Tales was actually the end of Legends Maul who survived as in canon.

Nobody likes my theory that Legends Maul is the original Guardian of Mount Tantiss until killed by Joruus? Maybe that role is better filled by Legends Maz Kanata. :p

And of course one of my favorites, that Snoke and the First Order WOULD have been a thing in Legends, except that Palpatine upon resurrection in a clone body promptly hunted down and killed Snoke sometime before Dark Empire. Probably around the same time the New Republic was distracted by the Thrawn campaign.

Lemelisk wasn't really eaten by piranha beetles and cloned. Rather, Sheev used The Force to make Lemelisk think that was happening.

D'vouran is related to Zonama Sekot.

I suppose that's possible-though given Palpatine's anger over the Death Star him going to the trouble of cloning and killing him multiple times made sense. Though putting Lemelisk through the illusion of all that suffering would have been more economical.

Yuuzhan Vong headcanon-the Vong Galaxy is relatively close in cosmological terms. It's hard to determine where it was-I believe that the main Vong fleet passed all the major satellite galaxies by 50 BBY and the scouts that appeared in the KOTOR era and in between where forward scouts.

In depth scouting and spying of the GFFA didn't begin until the first century BBY culminating in the Zonama Sekot incident and Shimmra's coup.

The Vong scouts were in hibernation/sleeping and by the time canderous discovered them the Vong had not settled on the Galaxy they wished to conquer.

The Vong Galaxy is in the GFFA's "local group" or at most within the GFFA's galactic cluster.

There's two satellite galaxies next to the GFFA.

The Vong's destruction of their own could have been the second sattelite galaxy which was never named.

Vong Galaxy being the home of them would also explain why the two "free" droid races came from there as well as Zonoma Seskot.

The second was Besh-that's where the Nagai were from.

The cremlevian war was also like in 15,000 BBY. So the Vong did cross the intergalactic void-not just between the main GFFA and its satellites.

All of vong prehistory bespeaks the fact they came from another Galaxy with countless species and societies of its own. The silentium-Abominor war, the Vong war against the droids, war of conquest, and civil war.

That's four wars in succession. We know also the Vong have their biots-creatures that came from their Galaxy and chazrach-their slave soldiers/auxiliaries.

The Vong Galaxy was likely within say 20 million light years max of the GFFA Vast by itself but relatively close in cosmological terms.
